You couldn’t sit down because those pissey little seats were full of water. The funniest bit was at half-time when most were stood behind the scoreboard having a piss down the grass bank. My mate, who was still jet- lagged from LA, was nudged from behind in mid-piss and slid gracefully down the bank on his back.
Randomly I chatted to Rupert while checking in at the Marriott- who’s sports bar proved a Godsend after walking back into town with Salisbury Saints.
After wed dried out we headed to the English Pub at the Hilton where “Stranger Things” happened.
Think I got back to my hotel about 4am, kicked out at midday & landed back in Dubai about 2am next morning.
Maybe 3 beers per hour of sleep on the whole trip.
Finding a Taxi in Bucharest at 4am in a monsoon was one of my more legendary Super Powers back in those days.
