I would of thought this was just plain common sense - in the same way a woman would be advised against going topless on a Dubai beach
You might not agree with their outlook on the world but you are going to their country and as such would have to abide by their rules

Problem is Respect is a word that has all but left the English language.
It’s all me these days.
UAE had no issue, I know a number of same sex couples who live there, are happy and dont feel the need to ram their opinions down their hosts.
(Obv the authorities got upset when Rocky thought it was a good idea to have a Gay Night at the old Diamond Club in Ramadan, but hey he was an idiot, finally jumped bail & got home on an oil tanker out of Oman leaving a few million & his personal possessions behind then had the nerve to complain across a centre spread in the fail)

I remember when I was working for a company in Singapore and had some techs assisting me I asked where they stayed and they told me in the yard and there were 20 ft containers with 6 bunk beds in where they lived for a year whilst in Singapore I was actually gobsmacked that they accepted those conditions. The owner of the company was a complete cunt and liar. Who eventually fired me for saying I was not going to lie to customers so he could make a profit.
Still happens there - our old office was rumoured to be up for development for years and nothing happened
Then one day a load of container dorms turned up in the car park and we knew the game was up - migrant labourers are not well treated
During covid it was ripping through these dorms so they stuffed them into accommodation barges and marooned them until it had burnt out
