šŸ»šŸ· The Map of šŸ‡²šŸ‡· Booze thread whatever the title says (or is changed to when moderately intoxicated)

Just had a virtual ā€˜couple of after work beers’ with my mate in Germany.

He emigrated last summer and, whilst he’s been back a few times, I’ve missed catching up with him, drinking and talking shit.

Tonight we used Zoom to communicate and talked about all the same shit but we’d set ourselves the objective of buying some interesting beer for the ā€˜call’.

I chose my current fave Hang Loose by Vocation brewery and a new one to me Love & Hate - also by Vocation (Both stocked by Tesco).

Love & Hate bills itself thus

Traditionalists love beer that’s crystal clear with restrained hops and a delicate flavour - they’re going to hate this. Love and hate is our juicy, crushable, unapologetically murky New England IPA.

It was fucking ace.

7.2% compared to Hang Loose’s 7% and given my notorious inability to drink, I’m plastered.

My mate ā€˜chose’ a load of German shit - perforce as opposed to by desire - a Pilsner a Dunkel and something else. I won the weird-beer battle.

Right now I feel like I’ve had a proper beer with an old mate. Beer and Zoom. Fucking fantastic.

When every tomorrow morning is a Sunday.
We are doomed…

Started early with a couple of ā€˜the Botanist’ G&Ts… Prosecco with Mrs Mot with our grub ( did a stir fry of load of Pak Choi and noodles with a bit of terikaki beef - still pretty easy to get stuff if you get up at 0600 to be at Tesco when it opens - mind you no pasta or rice which makes me think some folks are going to get very fucking bored of their food choices… just buy some fucking spuds and veg and stop buying shit pasta sauce in a jar which is full of sugar and salt you fucktards… but do fresh toms, bit of smoked bacon, garlic, onion and thyme and you are sorted in the time it takes to cook the pasta… )

Anyway, now need a wee dram… have an independent bottling of 13yo Benrinnes Madeira Cask strength at 62.2% just opened …

We are doing family home-cooked takeaway nights at the weekend to teach kid to do more cooking. Tonight is mexican so chicken burritos (veggie for kid) and nachos on the side.
Homemade pizzas next weekend and a curry night planned at some point.
Must teach her a few cocktails too

Have a v good recipe for homemade pizza base that does actually taste like an Italian pizza… but, you need a fucking hot oven, or at least a decent oven stone… and you need to kneed the fucker for eternity!

The really hot oven I have out back is usually ā€˜occupied’

Mrs G is making the most of her day off. We’ve done a hemingway daiquiri, a vodka tonic, gin tonic and now she’s cracked open a bottle of red

Get her in the sack before she passes out - you must be on a promise!

lol. She’ll be asleep before her head hits the pillow.

If the rohypnol works.

My aphrodisiac is Birdseye Potato waffles - works every time

( must be because it reminds her of her working class roots now that we are both middle class liberals elites)

… although given recent major surgical stuff to keep her alive, all a bit fragile at moment (mentally as well as physically) so I am keeping her entertained with my sophisticated charm:

… she is still not impressed by my elephant impression - said the trunk was disproportionally small compared to the ears…I said I wore those trousers special like as they had huge pockets so I could do the African

All supplies seem to be returning to normal, thankfully.

Just recreated the virtual pub (had a Zoom call) with my mate in Munich.

A cracking Brewdog O-G Hazy (7.2%) and the same Brewdog vs Cloudwater - New England IPA that I had the other day (6.8%).

C****.

What happened to freedom of speech?

Fucking cunting sensors!

Just testing

Another session in the virtual (Zoom-based) pub with my mate in Munich.

An old favourite that we both favoured if it was ever on tap…

5.6 % and just as nice out of the can as it is on tap.

Regular readers will have picked up on my reputation for not being able to drink - I should explain that I gained as much of that reputation amongst my IRL mates for this beer as I did for Punk IPA.

Lush.

…and yet another of the Brewdog vs X beers. This time Brewdog vs Modern Times (What’s the story with the naming here @ant - are they collaborations or something?)

6.2% and nice but not earth-shattering.
