I wouldnāt think we need a lot of investment really. I mean, if they want to lob in the odd Ā£10m here or there so we can take more chances in the transfer market, i.e. buy in replacement players before we actually sell bros, than I wonāt be Complaining.
Edit: Oh, and they can buy MLG a new stadium too pls. I think he Deserves It.
Chaps, chaps, disabuse yourself of the mega-money notion.
He spent Ā£210m to buy an 80% shareholding in the club. Donāt know what his net worth is but China are incredibly reluctant to let money leave their country now.
Iāll reserve judgement on this. Given that most of the Chinese investment in English football to date has been by cowboys with no fucking clue about the business (Trillion Trophy Asia being the prime example) Iām not all that optimistic. This feels like we are just a place to park some of his money so thatās it out of the reach of Xi Jinpingās boys when Gao inevitably pisses off the wrong person in the Chinese political system and has his assetts seized. Also, donāt kid yourself this guy is worth billions, heās a real estate developer, which means most of his wealth will be tied up in property in China, and I 'd wager he owes a fair slice of that value to the banks. Heās definitely not on the same level as Wang Jianlin (owner of Atletico Madrid) in the entrepreneur stakes.
