šŸ’° ⬆ Tax increase to pay for Social Care

Cue lots of relatives of Tory grandees registering community care set ups at Co House so they can cash in. Funding for outsourced care wont improve the lot of the 55 year old ex nurse who doesn’t get paid for travelling between appointments, has to provide her own vehicle and fuel and gets slightly above min wage. But it will pay for a second home in the Caribbean for the Ministers nephew via some nice divi’s.
Anyone who thinks this shower of shit Government will a) implement a fair and just system of wholesale benefit for all with particular focus on those who need it most b) spend any increased revenue wisely and not just chuck it into the big NHS pot and say ā€œthere you goā€ c) not fuck about with it in the future for their own gain, is sadly deluded. IMHO of course.

I’m quietly shocked at how the young are accepting of the oldies fucking everything up for them. All the benefit of creating a housing market that has been left to run wild for their own gain, the abandonment of free education, the uncertainty of a shitty job market (when there used to be jobs for life) and increasing the retirement age. Now having to pay paying extra for the care of the buggers too.

I’m no socialist but the pendulum has swung too far and i feel sorry you youngsters just starting out. Not a criticism in any way of you guys as we’ve all got to get on the treadmill and do what we do, but you’ve certainly got the shitty end of the stick.

Yeah it’s annoying but there’s not really any chance we don’t have a Tory government even if everyone 18-35 voted Labour as it is, and with Scotland likely off too it’ll take a very long time (not that they’d be guaranteed to be any better tbf).

Talking to Mum about it she was upset when she was my age about Grandma’s generation fucking everything up and they felt disadvantaged not being able to get final salary pensions etc. Conveniently ignoring that Mum was able to buy a 3 bed house in Putney when she was 30 for under Ā£85k that would now cost Ā£1.2m. Really feels a bit pointless atm as society just takes the young for granted and does nothing to advance our interests but gives the world to the blue rinse brigade.

Plus Ƨa change, plus c’est la mĆŖme chose…

The interest is ridiculous considering how low interest rates are at the moment. Student loans should be tax free, without a shadow of a doubt.

I think I said a few years ago that I’m surprised they haven’t stabbed us in our sleep.

The last time youngsters had a genuinely good deal was the early 1980s, probably too good a deal as it turned out. I remember both of my aunties getting married within a couple of weeks of each other in 1982 and both were offered council flats in the city. Both families were able to live well while building for the future. The council house giveaway really helped one of them.

Since then, it has been getting progressively worse. Higher education was simultaneously promoted as desirable for about 50% of our youngsters and turned into a cash cow, so even if you get a degree and a higher paying job, it’s years before you can start looking at a clean slate or a house, etc.

The higher education thing really sucks - £9k a year for some shit house degree from some shit house ex poly???

All the while the shit house ex poly is building state of the art buildings and paying the vice chancellor £400k pa

Well it was your mate Ken Clarke that equalised everything into a Uni.

A necessary step before commoditising everything.

Fucking shit idea then and fucking shit idea now

We have the surreal situation where Tories are proposing tax rises to pay for increased social care spending and Labour opposing it

What is going on??

Cunting Tories

I generally don’t think Ill of people, but I’ve become totally intolerant of Johnson and his cronies in recent years

I think it’s fair that Labour take a stance against a highly regressive tax when the Tories are ignoring other means of raising the money needed:

These 3 companies alone should be paying £4.47bn in Corporation Tax rather than £0.55bn

Maybe the Tories need to amend the rules around tax on corporations as they only pay what is legally required?

Perhaps pigs might fly too.

I get your sentiment albeit your sums are a little over optimistic - corporate tax take is based of profits not sales

The real crime is that they don’t pay VAT

And so it starts

42 integrated care bodies are being created - each have a CEO currently being advertised at between Ā£225 and Ā£270k pa - that’s Ā£9m right there plus no doubt they will need an entire C-suite each so that’s another Ā£50m pa

This is what boils my piss about giving up more taxes - it’s not so much the fact I have to pay the tax, it’s what the useless cunts spend it on

But wasn’t this in the pipeline from earlier this year - seem to remember reading something about 42 integrated care bodies for Engerland, or is it they’re now recruiting?

They are recruiting now.

Growing balls ?

Even HMRC aren’t on board

Another poorly thought out ā€œinitiativeā€ then?
