the good news is that we beat Sunderland with half a team from the academy. Unfortunately, they weren’t that good. I guess that’s fine, as long as they learn why they weren’t that good. Puel can sit them down and show them when they made the wrong run, wrong pass, got into the wrong position or failed to spot they were off side. If we can beat Sunderland and get the youngsters some proper experience that they really learn from, then great. If all else fails, we could just play with Forster, Virgil and Boufal.
Seriously, we need to be beating a Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Man City, Spurs, or Chelsea if we are to ever to end our trophy lifting drought.
If we beat Arsenal, we are still likely to have to beat Liverpool or Man U either in the semi or the final.
We can beat anyone, let’s do it his season. If not let’s try and beat Palace in the FA Cup 3rd round this time around (3rd time lucky).
Eight in the league, quarters of the league cup and second in the Europa group. Chill the fuck out everyone and enjoy the ride.
You’re the only one who appears to be unchilled.
Went to the game tonight. I’d promised my Burnley ticket to a mate, but when everything was postponed, she was kind enough to hand it back. Tonight was my thanks for her being cool about that.
We were not in our usual spots. We were on the edge of Block 3, everyone was sat down. Nothing seemed right. We had some miserable bastards behind us proclaiming it the worst game of football they’d ever seen. It wasn’t quite that. The first half was disjointed, not helped by Jay Rod’s unanticipated withdrawal and us losing an experienced attacking edge. Passes flew astray, and at times, the ball went out for a throw so many times you’d be forgiven for thinking rugby was on the go. Lots of kicking into touch, intended or otherwise.
Sunderland probed at times, raising heartbeats on a couple of long balls, ultimately squandered by those taking the shots. Alex McCarthy was reliable enough when called on, a definite upgrade from having Kelv or Gazza in as second keeper. He didn’t take dead ball kicks tonight. In a delightful series of old school moments, Yoshi took the goal kicks. Maya impressed me tonight; authoritative and taking ownership.
This’ll probably be remembered as Boufal’s game though. First start, misfired or got shown up a few times, but generally positive. The goal was sublime. If that’s something he can reproduce on a semi-regular basis, he’s going to change games.
Not Guilty!
I was asleep before the Mancs even kicked off.
I did read rumours this morning of an all night session of “other Krew members” Listening to Solent while watching a dodgy stream of Bake Off in Aprons and with Rolling Pins in hand over at Erics’.

I did HAVE A DREAM of an all night session of “other Krew members” Listening to Solent while watching a dodgy stream of Bake Off in Aprons and with Rolling Pins in hand over at Erics’.
Edited your post … please keep your sordid dreams to yourself in future.
Thanks.
Wake up Bletch you’re still on the train in the sidings at Eastleigh. It was all a dream, we gave Sunderland a right tonking with a full strength side and go a bye straight into the final…
Why are you wearing just an apron by the way?
What we definitely lack is that player who can produce a moment of magic and change those games where we can’t break teams down - hopefully he arrived last night, time will tell…
Any upcoming opposition defenders will be watching that goal and doing a little squirt of wee in their pants. Tadic, Redmond, Austin and now Boufal. That’s enough to worry most.
Sat in Itchen, we had a perfect view of the arc of the ball from Boufal’s shot. It was a beauty, started outside the post and curled in. But fuck me but a bloody awful crowd. The person behind me moaned about the Sunderland fans being louder than the Saints fans. WELL FUCKING SING THEN.
I said to Young Pharma on the way in there would be more ‘grown up words’ as we weren’t in our normal seats… but there’s a better atmosphere in the Chapel!
Moaners. He’s shit, they’re shit, ‘they need more experience’, FOR FUCKS SAKE! We’re trying to work three competitions, so whilst most teams can rely on changing half their team with reserves, we’re having to dig deeper into the youth. And people piss & moan.
Grrr…
Anyway, a game that won’t live long in the memory, except for *that* goal. Thought Stephens & Yoshi played well too, Reed industrious as usual.
Not watched nor read any reports, but it must be a nightmare being a Sunderland fan at the moment.
Not only Moyes, but also getting beaten in a Cup game by what was almost our JPT clone team.
Oh and imagine what Rupert & The Dutch Experiment could have done with this bunch of kids…
Thank fook they were only about 11 years old at the time or we’d have been stuck in a timeloop of World CLass Catering
Ah so THAT explains a great deal.
Brewdog has arrived in Dubai.
As luck would have it I have a Macam offshore in Malaysia at the moment, so that goal went on loop on the computer
When he was told that Moyes had been sent off " hope they sack the cunt " was the responce
Just an aside: Sunderland should have had a pen when Yoshi tripped Defoe in the area…certainly looked a pen but isn’t it always the same, it’s the big clubs that get the breaks when they’re playing at home.
Long may it continue.
Isn’t that the best brewery in the world, Philip?
Yes, Bletch, that was I
Just seen THE goal on the highlights on the OS, what a cracker. The control from Jose’s pass was sublime and then the shot…
But what an important goal that could be for the lad, to settle him down. When he played on sunday, he looked like he was trying to hard to impress, did some good touches and passes, but then did something and lost the ball. I think this goal could be the start of something pretty amazing for him and supporters at Southampton FC. We do find them don’t we.
