Sam Gallagher is 40 why are we signing him?

I’m pretty surprised at the Gallagher signing. I thought he’d be off
Yeah, noise coming out of St Mary’s was that no-one had talked to him during and after his spell at Blackburn, we must have decided that he is the striker we need.
I don’t claim to know a lot about Gallagher, Just those few appearances he made for us couple seasons back… but I’m not convinced he’s good enough. Now, that’s there to be shot down as I have admitted I don’t really know what he’s like now and this is a feeling in my balls.
He scored 12 times during his loan spell with Rovers last season and was quite stand out in team by all accounts. Now I know it’s only the Championship but he did look quite handy the few times he turned out for us a couple of years ago.
