Summer 2017 transfer window

Will be interesting to see who we sign…if anyone at all…still think Hoedt gets my vote as Wimmer not played enough games for Spurs and although ok…will not be strong enough in the air. Then again I have only watched various clips of Hoedt for Lazio…soooo in Sir Les and team…we trust…IF they get one over the line…

I think Clasie on Loan…maybe to Lazio???..needs game time…then again PEH very so/so for the U23 tonight…hoping Lemina is the answer alongside Romeu.

Not sure what has happened to striker Gallagher? :astonished:

Not on bench for first team and not in U23 side last night v Reading…maybe our first Carbonara EPL cup game…needs games or loan out…personally would like to see him in squad for upcoming league cup v Wolves

 Then again all the strikers need game time/shooting practice :astonished:

Otters, if the talk of a new striker coming in is true, I can see him being sold or loaned out again. His future father in law seems to have ruled out a loan, but if he isnt going to get much game time a loan would seem to be the best option. Then again, if we can get £8m for him I would be inclined to take the money.

It’s looking like he’ll be in the Wolves squad by then … they’ve been after him all summer and his lack of involvement for us, suggests to me it’s going to happen.

If new striker comes in?..but then again rumours re Shane Long to Burnley/Reading/Bournemouth?

Bournemouth is a guess if King goes from the Cherries

Next few days should give us a clue of who what where etc

Vietto has been a target allegedly but we wanted a loan and the club want to sell.

Oh how the mighty have fallen…

@old-ottery have you been forgetting to take your little pink pills again? Those last 2 posts of yours were incredibly lucid :lou_lol:

Roberts is apparently going to chose Celtic over us (for five minutes of CL football). City wanted him to come to us for Prem experience. Back to the drawing board.

Nurse has just left…feeling much better now :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

My guess is that, if Spurs end up getting Davinson Sanchez, then we’ll get Wimmer. Not sure where the Hoedt thing fits in, unless we are selling VVD after all and we end up needing two new CBs.

Never seen Hoedt, so can’t really pass judgement on him.

I’ve only seen bits of Wimmer, but he’s looked solid enough, imo. I’m reminded of Yoshi, who when in and out of the side sometimes looked a bit frail. Given a proper run in the team, he becomes a lot more solid (as long as he’s played CB). I see no reason why Wimmer couldn’t be similar.

I’d put Bertrand in a similar bracket, was a bit ‘meh’ about him signing, but he’s flourished being a nailed on starter.

I’m not praying we sign him, but I don’t think it’d be an awful signing.

The thing with the Wimmer rumours is that if he was as good, or as potentially good, as our interest would suggest, then why on Earth would Pochettino let him leave? He has demonstrated that he will give young players a chance and they have Champions league football to contend with. Pochettino will be well aware of how good/bad he could be.

I read something a while back that said Wimmer would be a starter for them in two years but is not ready yet. Is that the sort of player you sell or the type you hold on to, blood with more game time and get ready for a starting place? He is only one injury away (to Toby or Vertonghen) from getting a game.

I’m not sure they even have a 4th senior centre back at the moment do they? I think Eric Dier plays there when necessary.

Who knows.

What I do know is that we cold do a lot worse than sign another centre back AND still retain VVD. Gardos needs a lower league loan to see out his contract, much like Gaston Ramirez.

Am I also right in thiking that Yoshida only has a year left on his contract? I heard a couple of months back that he was in talks over a new deal but I havent heard anything since. My guess (and that is all it is) is that there is one on the table and he is waiting to see how many centre backs we bring in during the window before signing. He will feel that he has earned his first team role. Otherwise I cannot see why he would be left to enter the final year. I know clubs arent exactly banging down the door to sign him but even so.

At least this thread (which i started in April!!!) is getting some use now!

Looks like you are right

Did I read somewhere that Toby is coming to the end of his contract and has stalled on signing a new one? Could be why Spuds are after a new CB?

Toby came to us 'coz he couldn’t get into the Atletico team.

Lovren came to us 'coz he couldn’t get into the Lyon team.

Bertrand came to us 'coz he couldn’t get into the Chelsea team.

Spurs have had one of the best defences in the league for a few years, I think that’s a pretty harsh way to assess him.

Lots of rumours floating around about Jordie Clasie.

I personally like the player  but understand why some fans have reservations as to his suitability to our style and the Prem league. Never really been given a run in the side…can be said to a few players…but thats life at the Prem league sharp end. :astonished:

With the recent aquisition of Lemina and the wait and see re PEH…Romeu ,Davis and JWP holding places in team/squad…little playing time for Clasie has seen him missing out of game time :slight_frown:

Maybe he is off soon re Lazio,Everton or even return to Dutch league…Loan or transfer. We will soon find out

Fucking Hell, as I scrolled past that, my brain registered Gareth Bale was signing for the Baggies.

Fair point but I was more thinking from the point of view of why would Tottenham sell him if there is a chance he could fulfill his potential. They aren’t geared up for or chasing instant success like the other top 4 clubs, and Levy is a careful businessman.

How long is left on his contract (I honestly don’t know)? If it’s getting into the last 2 or so years, and he’s not playing - is he that likely to extend? The value of Wimmer will then only fall.

Equally, if Wimmer isn’t playing, how much more is his value likely to go up?

They signed him for what, £4 - 5m? Getting £20m(ish) for him isn’t bad. They’ve hardly been breaking the bank this summer, and have a stadium to pay for, that is already running well over budget. Perhaps they need to sell to make funds available?

This is mostly speculation, and there may be other reasons, but it may well be that selling now is the best time for them to sell.

Levy ain’t exactly infaliible. What did they sell Gylfi for? He’s ‘worth’ c £50m now.
