Little bit gutted for Jay Rod. As a selfish, success-seekin’ Saints fan, I’m not sad to see him go.
The injury ruined him, basically. Never the same player again.
For his sake, I hope he proves me wrong at West Brom, but I don’t think I’m going to be.

I’m not so much. I like the lad, he was only just getting the hang of it when he got injured and that was gutting. The thing is I don’t think he would have stayed the summer let alone untill now without the injury. I do think he will improve a fair bit by playing but it has taken a chunk out of his carrear and I feel for him a bit on that.

I don’t remember youth signing being so aparrent in past windows but that’s two for the future in and one from the first team out.
Is Les sending a message by only bringing in future players. None are going to rock the boat. I know it’s a long way till September but we haven’t had an hint of a Ryan replacement. Are we keeping the first team as is and reinforcing with up coming players. Gallaghers got a lot to prove but so have those above him, all about scoring and harassing for the striker next season. Are we goig to see the fruition of The Southampton Way? Would be a massive coup and make Les, Ralph and Kat most Saintly.

I agree that is what it looks like. I guess McQueen and Targett are decent Bertrand replacements if required? Gallagher seems to have progressed well. Maybe one signing that Pellegrino has worked with before? It’s all very exciting.

My guess is that ‘first team’ recruitment is on hold until The Pilgrim has a chance to assess the squad. So Les is quietly working away on ‘one’s for the future’ until the manager has seen what he has to work with.
