Doesn’t really matter what King thought of it, does it? Like all of Kubrick’s films it’s a top notch film. I’ve got to be honest, I’ve only tried to read a couple of King’s novels but thought both were very poor indeed.

Kings problem is he cant write an ending.
The Dark Tower series was superb at world building & painting images. Loved it.
Then read the last page of the last book :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
Likewise, Under the Dome, that TV adaptation just ended halfway. The book? Last page syndrome again.
I’m waiting to see how he has rewritten the end of The Stand. While it is probably unintelligible to anyone who didnt read the book, the visualisation is great.
How do I book in to New Vegas?

The first season of Invincible has wrapped.

It was a total force in its own right, and also, something of an “Invincible begins” season. Sounds obvious, but the way they went about it was excellent, and things that might have been throwaway elements in some shows are obviously coming back over the longer term.

The first half of the finale was one of the most intense things I’ve ever seen, with me fully believing that the show’s antagonist was one of the bigger uber-cunts I’d ever seen on screen. He appears to literally see human beings as at best, pets, or at worst, vermin.

And yet, part of the show’s genius is that by the end of it, you’re still wondering if he’s conflicted, still wondering if he’s redeemable.

The rogues gallery is one of the most interesting I’ve seen too. Truly great finale to a truly great show.

Easily the best thing I’ve seen in ages.

Just watched Rocketman, the Elton John biopic directed by Dexter Fletcher, on Netflix.

OK at bit of a hagiography and a bit of a musical, but actually really enjoyable.

Worth a watch.

It’s a good film.
It’s only problem was that it wasn’t A Star is Born or Bohemian Rhapsody - ie it didn’t make everyone cry.

It’s a good concept. Very normal in S1 until JFK doesn’t die & becomes an intriguing alternative reality story.
S1 is 60’s & 70’s NASA. S2 is 80’s.
S2 starts well Ep2 goes all drama & character development what happens after you changed the world stuff…
Not world shattering but good TV

I’ve avoided seeing it, on the grounds that I ploughed through his self-indulgent biography recently. I was a bit of a fan of EJ back in the Captain Fantastic and Rock of the Westies days, but he’s done himself no favours with his latest promotional guff imho. Came across as an utter twat in the book.

Worth a watch if taken with a large pinch of salt.

The book not worth it then?

Not really, no. Just a lot of self justification with one or two slightly interesting snippets thrown in here and there.

My point was Rocketman is good. But it isnt the global hit the others were because they hit heart strings.

Then I saved space by adding current stream review.
Great line in Ep3 you want to send guns to the Moon?

One of my favourite musical biopics was the Ian Curtis one, Control. Really good.

It is pretty smart. I am resisting the opportunity, so far, to do the comic books, but I know from Walking Dead that things will likely diverge big style regardless.

On the similar theme of animated super hero stuff, the more I see Enter The Spiderverse the more I’m convinced that it’s the best Spider-Man movie ever made, perhaps the best Marvel movie ever made.

I’ve just come off the back of that bastard, teared up at the end, again. They did this in one movie without a single character that you officially knew before. They’re all different versions of Spider-Man with limited coverage in the wider comics world, Spider-Ham being a celebrated obscurity.

Amination is hugely under-rated.

My Vodka stash going down…

But actually.
For all Mankind, The Stand & Debris.
Ans after a social media blackout until lunchtime tomorrow Line of Duty

Mother of God that was a shit ending for LOD.
