Anyone else sample The Terror tonight? On BBC2 and also iplayer. Was apparently on BT TV 2 years ago.
Based on the true story of 2 Royal Navy ships trying to find the Northern Passage through the Arctic in 1848. Ridley Scott behind the show. Ciaran Hinds stars
So WandaVision wrapped yesterday. Itās probably one of the best things Iāve seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it came out on the telly. If this show is about exploring Wandaās grief, then the finale would have taken anyone not already there along with her. By the end, the sense of loss is palpable and the potential consequences could be terrifying for anyone that isnāt Wanda (see end credits scenes).
I also canāt help thinking that in making this, Marvel have done themselves a bit of a mischief on the movie front. There are some meh Marvel movies, but no truly awful ones and some are some of the most impressive things put to screen. The Infinity War / Endgame Avengers movies spring to mind.
That said, theyāre action oriented and donāt give a whole lot of time for characterisation, even when individual characters get their own movies. Theyāve also been running the films as if it were a series, so it probably shouldnāt be a surprise that WandaVision translated so well.
Too well, maybe - because this show is more like an authentic comics experience than many of the movies are. A long time spent exploring out there shit, and deeply delving into a specific character. The best runs are based on it and the movies never gave a character the time Wandaās had.
I would certainly give Coming 2 America a recommend. Itās on Amazon Prime at the moment, and as someone who had a lot of time for the first film, Iām actually quite pleased with this one. Sure, we re-tread a lot of the same things that we do, which I am more than happy with. I will never tire of the barbership quartet.
It should be called Coming To Zumunda, because the plot is basically film #1 in reverse. Akeem finds out he has a bastard son in America who comes to Zumunda to learn to be a prince.
So many of the old actors are back. Queen Lisa is still the same actor from the originals, even though she hasnāt done much since. Her dad is back, as are co-workers at McDowells. Of course, it helps that so many of the roles were played by Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, both doing the multi-role stuff again.
Itās a good sequel that may not have as many laughs per minute as the original, but doesnāt shit on it and made me laugh many times. And letās be honest, the original was never a five star film anyway; it was just a beloved good film.
IF you havenāt seen it, Drive to Survive ( Netflix) is showing on Sky Sports soon.
Superb fly on wall documentary on F1.
We both found it really interesting
