Sparta Prague v Saints Build Up and Match Thread

Why didn’t that cunt Puel play the first team in the first place?

Oh shit.

I only saw the second half but were poor in that. We’re just so toothless. Boufal didnt really make a difference to that nor did Austin. What is it? Why are so many of our games like this? Is it tiredness or IS IT COS MARTINA IS SHIT?

We are way too slow at moving the ball. It’s like we don’t attack until the other side gets all of their men back behind the ball. That was like the Milan game away. If you can’t break a team down and score for fuck sake don’t lose the game.

I didn’t think we were v.good. I thought we was ok-ish 1st half, and off the pace second half. Draw would’ve been fair result prob. Tadic might have made a difference for us RIP

I just heard 1-1 at st marys against the isralies wont be enough to go thru?? surly goal difference matters.

I still can’t work out how Redmond didn’t get subbed.

Fuckerty fuck fuck.

If it’s level points i think head to head is next up, and they would win on away goals

Yup, Redmond had an absolute shocker. Tbf that’s probably the only “bad” game he’s had for us.

As others said, we didn’t move the ball quick enough and Sparta were very disciplined and well-drilled. That early goal was a real kick in the teeth because it allowed them to sit back and defend in numbers which we didn’t seem to have an answer to. We looked much better when Austin came on and we went to 4-4-2, we actually managed to get bodies forward and some service into the box, but it was too late by that point. Had we made that tactical switch when Hojbjerg went off we could’ve got the win.

Martina was crap though, my patience is pretty much gone with him. Wouldn’t be devastated if we got our money back for him in January and he went to Everton.

It will be nervy night at SMS till Martina gets his second goal then i will start to relax a bit srs

No twat would ever sign Martina, no way that lad is shit, fucking garbage, not a prem player by any stretch in any way. Fucking shit, he doesn’t know when to mark and when to play off a player, he can’t fucking pass unless its a 10 yard sideways one and then its a close call, he is truly shit.

Shut the fuck up. You utter bellend.

That was a shit performance though.

Redmond had a shocker. Even Virgil looked suspect.

I’d sign him. Then I’d make him bone your missus.

Nobody put their head above the parapet tonight, shame really, would have loved to see someone take the reins as leader. Maybe its just familiarity with playing together. Rotation is admirable on the one hand and on the other denies people the chance to learn to play together. I hope to see something a little more adventurous on Sunday

Massively disappointing performance.

Long, Rodriguez and Redmond all harmless as the fangs of a daddy longlegs.

Hojbjerg once again did little more than give the ball away. Martina couldn’t cross the ball. Clasie was utter gash as usual and all in all the team looked utterly clueless about how to attack a team with men behind the ball.

One of our main objectives has to be integrating Boufal into the team. He’s the only bright spark (apart from perhaps Tadic and maybe Redmond on his day) that looks like he can open up a defence either with a slick pass or by beating a man.

At the moment we’re just so, so easy to defend against its embarrassing. You literally just need to get men behind the ball and patiently wait for us to give it back to you.

Things need to change. We need to have a serious think about how we can conjure up some kind of a threat going forward.

Austin is a decent finisher but needs service. He’s slow and can’t beat a man. He’s a common-or-garden target-man/poacher (which in itself is fine) but he won’t change a game unless he’s replacing a centre-forward who’s been getting tonnes of chances and missing them. Austin would change *that* particular game by scoring them. When we’re not even getting service to whoever is playing in the main striker position and his introduction won’t make a blind bit of difference.

The issue is the midfield. Clasie, JWP, Romeu, Davis, Hojbjerg and even the likes of Reed are all very defensive players who can’t beat a man, rarely thread a pass, almost never pop up with a goal and so on.

We just don’t have a proper attacking midfielder who’s going to run at players, try and thread a through-ball, arrive late in the box, shoot from distance, chip in with 5-10 goals a season and so on.

When you add a fairly crap forward line to the mix there’s no great mystery to it.

Clean sheet at home and we are through. We should manage that. If not then just win at home, we should manage that.

Our away form has been pretty poor all season, but we are very good at SMS. Beer Shaver have been pretty terrible since winning in Milan, but Inter did self destruct this evening, with getting a man sent off.

I thought we were pretty handy in the first half, but very poor in the second. We lack pace up the middle. A replacement for Mane is needed and I am sure we are on it for January.

Going to be a cracking night at SMS to decide this one.
