Who’s in charge of translation duties?
BTW anyone else how much he looked like “our Nige” in the technical area last night!!
My thoughts on the game…
Firstly, I thought Ted’s account had been hacked…

But I now see that he’s replied to Mr. Bulsara, over two posts, with someone else posting in between, with no quoting for context, so we’re all good again.
Claude got the tactics spot on and it’s clear that the players - well this lot at least - could retain possession and fight to win back possession when it was their turn. I also saw us press the ball with much more urgency which makes me feel a whole lot better about our prospects.
Watching the game, my sense was that we were playing more of a two upfront approach, because Austin and Long were interchanging well, but the Sqwaka heat map shows that, in the main, Long stayed out wide (right and left), Austin played by-and-large through the middle and Tadic predominantly played wide right.
Long…
Tadic…
Austin…
I’ll be intrigued to see if we can get the same sort of result from Austin in the Prem, because I’ve already pronounced him too static and slow to play in the front 3 of Claude’s diamond and I’m never wrong.
Last night he either proved me wrong, or Sparta Prague aren’t fit to throw stones at the Prem’s shit. We’ll see I guess.
My man of the match was actually JWP. He owned the left side of Claude’s diamond and played at full speed and was totally committed to every challenge.
JWP…
Of course, JWP could only play that way because Romieu was immense at the back of the diamond. Gave us the sort of performances that Morgan used to a few seasons back which provided the stability to allow everyone to do their job.
Romeu…
and for completeness here’s Hojberg who looked really classy last night on the right of the diamond.
Hojberg…

From my view in the Chapel I thought that Martina (??) was arguing for a corner, apparently the penalty was given for a handball by the 5th (??) official. BBC site said it was a bit harsh as it was close but if you raise your arms…
Maybe SaintBitch could tell you if he could see it through the snowflakes on his dodgy stream.
Firstly, I didn’t watch a dodgy stream. It was on BT HD so crystal clear - except for the 5 mins where a storm passing through SO50 disrupted the satellite signal.
But I had a clear view of the penalty.
Verdict - no penalty.
The defender slid on his right thigh to stop the ball coming into the box and in doing so the ball struck his right arm, which was in natural position low to the ground and then folded in front of his torso. The ball may then have gone on to hit his left arm too - which again was in a natural position close to his body.
To my mind hitting his arm gave him no real advantage as the ball would have hit his torso anyway, so no pen.
But WTF do I know? (rhet.)
The weather looked horrendous there.
