Talking about the game with a mate who’d also watched it, we both mentioned that for decent stretches of tonight we looked good. Some good forward and build up play, the usual defensive shambles but there were positives to take from the overall performance.
And there’s the rub. In truth, we didn’t look that poor a side…but we still got thumped 5-1 at home. If we play reasonably well and still get done comfortably, the writing is well and truly on the wall.

But Archer should have scored a couple, Aribo missed one as well and some final ball choices into the box were not good enough for this level.
So let us be real. Our squad is not PL level, we spunked 150 mil on shit (Sulemanna?) Our 3rd choice keeper (from Middlesborough) is not up to playing out from the back on a cold wet night but could do it only 4 days ago. Our hopefully ex captain is an utter prick and let’s face it, it took Martin a couple of months to ge the team starting to play the way ALL teams now play last season so he is NOT changing that in 4 days with 10 first team players missing.
We are on a 3-4 year path because Cortese then others neglected our Academy. It’s shit and sorry, not even Pep or Slott or Arteta would change that this season with this squad

The biggest plus was that I could not make it. It was cold, rained, actually, as well as chelsea goals and I sold my seat to A N Other. Sorry whoever that was.
