Is that not Eddy Horns on Shirley high street? Or were there two Horns barbers in Southampton? Although the shop next door looks like it might have something to do with Highfield.
That place was in Highfield, and if I’m not mistaken, was colloquially referred to as “Percy’s”

Yeah, I agree with hoofinruth, Sfcsim. This is an excellent thread which has not only made the place a bit more diverse, but has also given it a really nice grounding. The memories are an added bonus.

Do you know where this is? Looks a bit like Aldermoor Road where the old farm used to be, but not sure if it is…

Up the little staircase to the singles dept I think it was.
Bought some of my earliest albums there, and I remember buying the early pre-Midge Ultravox Retro vinyl that I stumbled across in the loft the other week.
A good payday was a trip into Subway for an album, grab a Record Mirror/Sounds/NME at Sperrings, then off down to the Gaumont for a pair of concert tickets at £2.75 each, no booking fee, no arrangement fee, no effing blood-sucking middleman ripping-the-arse-out-of-it fee, just the tickets.
Seems like a million years ago.
