Southampton City College is an underrated institution, imo. I tried going to Taunton’s for a year, but was a lazy fucker, didn’t like the environment or the way stuff was taught. The tutors all treated you like gobby 16-17 year olds, which tbf, we were, which was even more reason not to do it.
Reason I say that is because the year after, ended up going to Tech. Probably still the best educational experience in my life, definitely the best when it came to computing. Quite a few of us were young, but there were a lot of mature students which meant that people were never treated as kids, and therefore never acted like them.
As small kids we used to be taken to the old Edwin Jones restaurant as a treat. The restaurant was located in a temporary part of the bombed out shop, overlooking the park…before the rebuild. Mum and Dad usually ordered roast beef or something like that but my brother, sister and I always ordered the same…Fish, chips and peas followed by Ice Cream…never varied despite my mum trying to temp us with something different.
Right, I am back to complete the rest of the photos I have gathered from personal photos, Southampton books and other sources from the Internet. I want to post the remainder and then put this to rest… Well until I get me next book at least.
