Hopefully that’s enough to keep that cunt Wanyama out of the team.

You’d start Romeu over Victor on merit alone, right? Even disregarding the attitude problem, I think Oriol has been demonstrably superior for a while now.

Very much with you on that, Ant. I thought Romeu was one of the few players who looked good on Saturday in what was a pretty shite performance. He tackles and intercepts well, and looks to get forward as and when he can too - and looks useful doing it too.

And that haircut makes him look roughty tufty as well.

Couple of other things of note:

  • They didn’t manage a shot until the 70th minute (and even then that wasn’t on target). Yes, they were poor going forward - but compared to recent ‘Keystone Cops’-tribute defending, it was a masterclass.

  • Gomes simply cannot catch. As with the incredulity that Watford have so many points, if last night was representative then he’s stolen a living at the top level for an impressive amount of time.

Not just Gomez out of his depth, what is their manager about?

Is a Millets cataloguie missing it’s main model for the small men’s clothing section?

His team looked devoid of any idea or plan, and a couple of their defenders would struggle to trap a bag of cement.

I like Flores. He looks good. I think I might fancy him.

He is House MD.

Well, I made an excellent job of missing that match! Left work at 6pm, was breezing down the M3 with a thought of making it to the Rockstone when everything ground to a halt. It was damn near kick-off time when I got to the top of the Avenue, so I thought I’d take a chance on finding somewhere to park near Six Dials. Given that it was pissing down as well I didn’t much fancy a long walk!

Parking place? Not a fucking chance. Once it got to nearly 8pm I called it a day and headed for home.

Felt nervous looking at the match stats during the game, as I’m sure all those in the ground must have done. When you’ve had a good number of shots, half of them on target, but haven’t got that second goal…

Top stuff, really looking forward to Saturday now!

That is so lame. Pathetic. Call yourself a fan?

In defence of Fowllyd he had already had his buzz from a big match atmosphere the night before at Fleming Park and anything else would be a let down.

I know. I should be taken out and shot. It’s the only language people like me understand.

Haven’t had a chance to catch up on the game/highlights yet. But think people are being a tad harsh on Watford/Flores.

They’ve been really good for most of the season. Speaking to my Watford supporting mate this morning, he said that was by far the worst they have been this season. They are a decent team, that are usually very well set up. I’ve been impressed whenever I have seen them. Flores deserves credit for the job he has done, imo.

One bad night doesn’t make them a bad team.

EDIT: Corrected typo.

Absolutely this.

Not having a go at KRG but why is it that Southampton only wins when the other team has an “off day”. Similar with Arsenal! Is it not possible that we made them play badly?

I have to say that there were some excellent Saints performances las night. None more so than Shane Long who ran himself into the ground and was quite clearly exhausted at the end of the game.

It is possible that Watford were poor by their usual standards AND we played well, making it much harder for them. We were not at our best either though, Mane the main example.

It’s a fair point.

As I said, I haven’t had a chance to see the game yet. So it’s not really a comment on us. FWIW said mate did also say we battered them. As Bucks suggests, it sounded like a case of us playing well and them playing poorly.

I was more talking about it seeming odd that a team who are doing well in the league suddenly being called poor or having fluked their way to where they are in the table. They’ve done well, especially for a newly promoted side with a manager new to this country. From what I’ve seen of them, they fully deserve to be where they are - and fair play to them for that. You’d have to think it would take a major cock up for them to go down now. I’m sure at the start of the season survival would have been their #1 goal.

The table never lies so they fully deserve to be where they are, no fluke - but I was just astonished that they have 10 points on that showing - they were as bad as Villa.

I’m sure he is a very good manager, but why did his team look absolutely clueless for 95 minutes?

Maybe we are that good…

But they made Bournemouth look like Real Madrid.

Thanks Bucks, really interesting. I’d appreciate more of this kind of tactical discussion on this site - I don’t have such a football heritage that I’m always clued in on tactics but it’s the part I find most fascinating. The more geek out the better as far as I’m concerned.

And thanks for respecting my question unlike doofus Goatboy :lou_wink_2:
