šŸŽµ Sotonians' Musical Chain - Mk II

Although perhaps its easy to laugh at aging transfolk… Jayne/Wayne County was a trans punk pioneer of the late 60s early 70s, and if you think of bands/folk like the Velvet Underground Their song Candy Says is about Candy Darling one of the trans folks that were in that scene) Patti Smith, Iggy Pop, the New York Dolls, even the Ramones, there is a clear element of androgeny and ā€˜queer’ within their makeup. Check out Wayne County and the Electric Chairs on John Peel sessions from 1979 (on YouTube). Punk was about nihilism and how far you could push things so not unexpected.

Am (Amber) Taylor, only seems to have a couple of tunes on the toob, but this is quite a chilled out mix.

I’ve been a fan of Wayne/Jayne since buying the Blatantly Offensive EP on gold vinyl back in the seventies. Got a couple of her albums as well, good old fashioned punk stuff :+1::+1::+1:
