My band used to play Doctor Doctor (and Lights Out & Natural Thing)

I remember the Davy Crockett hat fad of '55. A lot of cats went missing that Christmas.

It was my favourite song when i was seven or eight. My mother sent in a request to Uncle Mac,(remember him?) for it to be played for my birthday. I remember the family gathered round the radio when he read it out and wished me happy birthday before playing it. I was the talk of the village for about a week!
On a more sombre note i think Uncle Mac was exposed many years later as someone who had similar hobbies as Jimmy Saville. If only we had known!

Ha yep “Children’s Choice” with Uncle Mac. I liked “Sparky’s Magic Piano” and “The Happy Wanderer”
Fal da Ree.

I think it was called Children’s Favourites’. Wasn’t Uncle Mac also the voice for Larry the Lamb?

Yeah I think you’re right.

By the time you were nearing retirement and Radio 1 started, it had become Junior Choice.
