Pluck?
That was just Mike Dean doing his thing.
He’s officiated Spurs three times this season and put the opposition down to ten men on every occasion.
As soon as they had more players the game was over.
Dean’s one of their best signings.
We lost.
I discovered Chocolate Vodka.
Dear Prowsie,
just heard you on the radio explaining how the lads can take some positives from tonight, well let me just clarify something - that is bollocks.
regards
RB
Well, we had good chances when 1-0 up - Redmond went very close on one occasion, and there were others when we could and probably should have done better. And, had we gone two up, the game would have taken on a very different character. And I did rather wonder if that penalty would have been awarded against a Manchester United defender at Old Trafford, but there you go.
Even when 2-1 down and 10 men, we had two great opportunities; one falling to Tadic, the other to Hojbjerg. The former in particular should have produced something better, with the keeper nowhere in sight and a decent gap to aim for. I don’t know if Tadic simply didn’t realise what an opportunity he had, but if we’d got back level at that point we wouldn’t have been chasing the game and could quite possibly have held on for a draw.
And if my aunty had bollocks she’d be my uncle of course. Life’s full of ifs, buts and maybes, and today they all went the other way.
The issue with Redmond is 90% he is a Championship player, I thought his pace and game would would for us, obviously not, also far from convinced by Hojbjerg, we need a striker and we need a winger, Boufal needs to start just crossing the ball BUT we need someone in the middle who can put it away.
Mike Dean’s last 7 Spurs games.
6 Wins
1 draw
0 losses
5 penalties awarded for Spurs
3 red cards given to opposition
In Top Form
That as may be but we’re still poor for most of the game and we’re far too inconsistent this season, our players aren’t doing it enough and no players bar Van Dijk who’ll be off stands out, not convinced by a number of players ie Redmond, Hojbjerg and JWP and certainly not by our forward line huff and puff and little else.
Romeu? He’s been very good this season.
Redmond, JWP and Højbejerg are all 22 or under. I’ll give it time, especially as 2 of them are new.
Forward line does need looking at. Who should we sign?
A frustrating game yesterday, but some good moments against a very good team with an extra man(2 after Redmond got red).
Barry, can I (somewhat patronisingly) commend you on your change of posting style.
Are you pissed, or perhaps unusually sober?
You got downvoted during the match for saying “Redmond is a cunt”, but since then you’ve been the model of (self-) moderated restraint.
There’s a bloke sits a few rows behind me in Itchen South (you can see the thick twat in one of the Ugly vids from last night).
I think it took about 2 minutes before he started hurling abuse at Redmond last night. It’s a regular thing.
I have a 6 foot 5 mate sits behind me who threatened to fill mouthy bloke in after about 5 minutes. Suprisingly he wasn’t so vocal after that.
Righty. Back home after the game & staying overnight.
We got bullied, plain and simple.
Rodriguez, JWP, Davis, Redmond, Boufal and Cedric up against Wanyama, Alli, Kane, Sissoko, Dembele, Dier and Vertonghen was no contest. Spurs are simply bigger and stronger than us and it showed in every single facet of the match; from the talentless Sissoko able to offset his bad touches with his ability to bounce our players off the ball, to Vertonghen having Jay Rod in his pocket for the entire game. It was like playing the year above at school when your matches were cancelled.
The penalty was very harsh. Yes, to some extent there was some holding going on which probably did put Alli off his finish but its yet another decision where asking challenging any fan of the Big 6 to give an example of when their club has had something like that go against them usually yields a grumble of acknowledgment.
Still, take nothing from Spurs, they’re a very good side. Its a shame, because its been a while before this season that Saints have been beaten by anyone that I shrugged off as ‘just better than us’. Against United, Chelsea and Spurs this season however, that’s very much proved to be the case. Previously there wasn’t a single match where I considered a defeat an inevitability that couldn’t have been prevented, but last night I just thought we were powerless to avoid defeat. They had better players who were stronger and faster to boot. Meh. Not a lot we could have done about it.
Finally, what a bunch of knobby, dickless little fans they have! At 4-1 you’d expect them to be celebrating, sure, but they were properly giving it large and getting all up in our grill as if we were their rivals or something. Their ‘little man’ complex is projected absolutely loud and clear given how badly they’ve been teabagged over the years by their various London rivals. Shame, because I’ve got nothing against their players. Still, it was funny when Virgil bopped up to them after his goal and their collective bollocks shrivelled up.

Blakey. Ex-taxi driver. Drinks in Guide Dog.
Last year it was Wanyama, he was abusing regularly.
There may be a pattern?

Its interesting, as so many of our black players have been traditionally talented-but-lazy types which tend to draw the ire of most English football fans anyway. We haven’t really had the controlled study that a black version of Shane Long or Steven Davis would provide.
Having said that, I’m very confident (though it can’t be proven) that there’s no way the fairly hefty contingent of idiots in our fanbase would be as forgiving of an (admittedly hardworking) striker scoring 0 goals halfway through the season if he were black.
Davis is our barometer.
He has a good game and we win or draw
He has a bad game and we lose
Untill we get a top six Davis type player we will always be short of the top five or six
No appeal over Redmond’s red…
