:labour: 🌅 Red Dawn - Life Under Labour

Starmer is God.
A hero of the modern age!
He has destroyed your Fishing Fields.
Burdened you with taxes, rules and regulations.

All so that I will be able to buy some Stilton over here at Christmas

Bravo Sir. :clap::clap:

Happy days

South Western railways gets nationalised this week end with the longer term goal to create a large company Great British Railways with all the railways and track maintenance handled by it

Cannot wait for the cost reductions and service improvements

The NHS is going to go on strike about their above inflation pay rises

On a nationalised industry? you are of course kidding. Think of the Quango’s they will raise and the cost involved in them.

No no no - they promised - this is the future

British Rail was shit. It really was shit, in every way except affordability and accessibility. You could just buy a fairly cheap ticket from one organisation to take you where you wanted to go. There is no point to the present private fiasco, (which is only slightly less shit anyway,) because it’s far cheaper for one person to get in their car and drive there, and by the time you’ve figured out which combination of the multitude of operators you need to buy from, you could have fucking walked it. That becomes exponentially cheaper for each extra passenger in the car.

The costs wont go down - if anything they will go up because the unions will smell blood. Labour cannot politically afford protracted strikes and be seen to defy the unions. they can’t afford it economically because the unions pay the labour party millions.

From a service perspective the trains are actually not bad - they are broadly on time and clean. Yes a train ticket is expensive if you rock up 5 minutes before but a 7 day season ticket from Southampton to London is £155 which is bloody good value.

I see the changeover to nationalisation starts over the bank holiday weekend and with unfortunate timing and, perhaps giving a sense of its future success, the first train journey has been cancelled and replaced with a bus service due to engineering works.

Trains are dinosaurs everywhere

How stupid the UK multi ticket system, yet try snd book an international train trip

Impossible more than 6 weeks in advance and then no integration or cover for transfers.

The Ayatollah was off to London to day on her first trip on the Great British Railway - got as far as Redbridge - signals are fucked - train cancelled

Brewery found, people invited, everybody parched

All here, no problems, smooth journey… Nearly had to pay extra because we caught an earlier train but the guard let us off. The train was empty to be honest…

Spending review done - £30bn extra to the great medical money pit

Here’s a sobering thought - the NHS budget is now as big as the GDP of Portugal
