I have money on a Saints win
Acca 1
Liverpool / Newcastle / Notts Forest to win.
Acca 2
Bournemouth / Tottenham / Man City to win.
Arsenal had a plan.
Barcelona weren’t themselves, possibly due to the plan.
Don’t get me wrong, Arsenal dug deep and it’s a tremendous win. With hindsight it’s a much better game than my rather derogatory comment suggests.
The Arsenal back four were brilliant, Catley especially (unfortunately Aussie).
It was good to see the Barcelona players not have it their way for a change.
Nathan Jones next season then
Hideous!
.Martinez red card for Villa at Utd in game they have to win
JWP tap in for wet spam
Brentford Spurs Palace Citeh all winning
Straight out of the Russell Martin playbook the Bin Dippers give the ball away in their own half and Palace score.
Brighton 0-1 down to 2-1 up at Spurs
Barcodes losing to Leicester!
Out of UCL atm
I could gave captained Mbeumo.
No.
I captained Pope
Utd winning
Volla out of UCL
Spurs 1-3 down
Villa now 2 down
And there’s me thinking they were playing Everton…
Ref didn’t follow protocol
VAR would have given the equaliser
Thomas Bramhall. The bastard scion of Lee Mason and Jon Moss. Probably the worst ever given a Premier league job. I refer readers to our defeat at Wolves in November, although I can probably find 25 other fuck ups by this utter cretin.
AFC Wimbledon win the L2 playoff. Good
Brutal for Southend.
Go ahead in extra time in Play off final then Oldham get 2 in 2 minutes to get ptomtion back to Football League…
A ground I actually watched Saints at back in our 70’s Div 2 days
November 19th 1977. 1-1. Trevor Hebberd tap in after a fuck up by their keeper. We were lucky to get that.
One of, if not the, coldest game I’ve ever been at. About 100 Saints fans spread out along the front row of the terrace so as to be sheltered by the pitch wall. Having to ask the Coppers to get out of the way.
I think I was on the Coach from the Huntsman Tavern - early days of Salisbury Saints.
Somehow I was up at the back of a grandstand level with edge of the penalty area - remember that clear as day.
Remember nothing else of the day!
Interesting weekend. Travelled from Edinburgh and stayed with cousin who was at Manchester Uni. On the Friday night off to Pub, then a visit to Charlie’s Plaza off Curry Mile. This place was shut down a few months later for serving "chicken "which wasnt as described!! Only 3 items on the menu, Biriani - medium, hot and suicide. One of us had the latter and didn’t make it to the match. As for the match, we watched from the side terrace which afforded some protection from the downpour. On the bright side another ground visited and a point earned. A month later, away to Blackpool where the police and locals were none too friendly - all too symptomatic of the joys of following the Saints away in those days. But a win to boot thanks to a Ted MacDougall goal
I was at thst Blackpool game!
Dad had bought Mum a car - the VW Variant and I drove 3 mates up from Salisbury.
I was under strict orders to keep the RPM to 2500 in top gear which kept us economical on petrol and at abot 65 mph all the way!
I remember that, the brick wall turnstiles the vague stadium layout but nothing about the game/score!
Thanks for the memory jog
