IT WAS a good year for Junior Saints members, winning prizes, meeting stars and enjoying training days.
It was January 1987 and Arsenal were sitting pretty at the top of the First Division when Junior Saints Team B took on their youngsters at the JVC Indoor Training Centre in London.
The Junior Saints tasted success in a 2-0 win over the Junior Gunners with both goals coming from Andrew Forbes.
In April, Kevin Noyce got more than he bargained for when he became a Barclays Supersaver.
Kevin was the 1,000th Junior Saint to become a Supersaver, winning a bumper bag of goodies presented to him by Saints player Greg Llewellyn.
Dozens of youngsters jumped at the opportunity to learn a few tips from youth development coach Larry Clay and apprentice Shane Wheeler in May that year.
Three groups were each given a one-hour session on the basic skills of the game, culminating in a series of small-sided matches to put into practice all they had learned.
After the session they had a tour behind the scenes to see the trophy room, the dressing rooms and the weights room.
