Saints fans encouraged to share memorabilia

The museum are looking for objects that could play a starring role in a new exhibition which opens in March 2018.
However, it is not just personal objects that are required. The museum are also keen to hear any Saints-related stories!
Curators from the museum and representatives from the club will be present from 11am-3pm on Saturday 10th June at the SeaCity Museum to view objects and listen to such stories.
Please note, the museum will not be able to physically take objects on the day, but will be aiming to photograph and then review all items brought in.

Manchester City have fired the golden starting gun on what is expected to be the biggest-ever summer of spending in the transfer market. Not just in the Premier League but across Europe.
The £43million acquisition of midfield play-maker Bernardo Silva is just the beginning. Not least for City who want his Monaco team-mate, full-back Benjamin Mendy, to attack down the left-flank with Tottenham Hotspur’s Kyle Walker charging down the right. Straight away we are talking expenditure of £120million and that will be added to with more signings as Pep Guardiola begins in earnest the task of shaping City into the team he wants them to be.
The money is there. The money is everywhere. Europe is rubbing its hands with glee at the prospect of the Premier League coming calling and the re-emergence of the Milan clubs, Inter Milan in particular, under new, ambitious ownership means that are more big players in the market to add to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus. That elite is expected to wield unprecedented levels of spending, fuelling fees and wages.
A pot of £200million for the biggest Premier League clubs – Manchester United, City, Chelsea – appears to be the minimum amount available with Chelsea, in particular, also awash with money they have brought in through sales with the £60million from China for Oscar and a further £76million from the same source for Diego Costa although his move is suddenly in the balance. Chelsea have waited and will now go big.

Southampton Football Club has recently released important information regarding the upcoming Robbie Williams concert at St Mary’s on Thursday 6th June.
Attendees can enjoy a variety of offerings in our food village including noodles, gourmet burgers, Greek, Mexican, wraps and baguettes as well as a number of bars.
A Park ‘N’ Ride facility will also be in place for those attending. There will be several road closures and strict parking restrictions around the stadium on the day of the concert, so we strongly advise that concert goers make full use of the service that will be running.

Paine praises Yoshida and Stephens

The pair were thrown together following the departure of José Fonte and the injury to Virgil van Dijk, with the duo forming an impressive bond at the heart of the backline.
Yoshida particularly impressed Paine, to the point that he chose the Japan international as his the recipient of his President’s Choice prize at this season’s Player Awards ceremony.
“He’s been here for four or five years now and has been very patient, and I think when the chance has come for him to play on a more consistent basis he’s really stood up to the task and has produced some really outstanding performances,” explained Saints’ record appearance holder.
"I’ve been more than happy with the way he has been going, and with young Jack Stephens alongside him. If you’d have said at the start of the season that they were going to be your centre-backs towards the latter part of the season I don’t think you would have believed it, so the pair have done particularly well, but Maya has really impressed me and long may it continue.
“And Jack coming in has been a revelation in some ways. I don’t think anyone could have believed he’d have been in the first-team and playing as he has done.”

Harry Kane wins PFA Fans’ Premier League Player of the Season award

Harry Kane has won the PFA Fans’ Premier League Player of the Season award, ahead of N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard.
Over 49,000 votes were cast in the poll, which was held on the Sky Sports website and apps, and Kane, who finished as the Premier League’s top goalscorer, came out on top with 16,378 votes ahead of Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, who received 13,515 votes.
Hazard, who scored 16 goals and grabbed five assists, finished third with 8,412 votes ahead of Alexis Sanchez (6,727), Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli (3,507) and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku (955).
The top six were chosen by our expert panel, which included Sky Sports pundits Paul Merson and Peter Beagrie, Mike Riley - general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials, and Malcolm Clarke - chairman of the Football Supporters’ Federation.
And it is Kane who has come out on top thanks to your votes, which have been verified by an independent party.
The 23-year-old scored 29 goals and provided seven assists to help Tottenham finish second behind champions Chelsea - their highest Premier League finish.
Kane finished as the league’s top scorer for a second successive season and his performances also saw him named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.
Earlier in the week, Portsmouth’s Enda Stevens won the League Two award, Bolton defender David Wheater was named PFA Fans’ Player of the Season in League One, while Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle picked up the Championship award.

Liverpool are ready to bid £50m for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk
The Holland international has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most-wanted defenders after shining since his move to the south coast from Celtic in 2015.
Starsport exclusively revealed last month that Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and Manchester City are hunting for Van Dijk.
But, according to the Mirror, Liverpool chiefs fancy launching a £50m offer for the 25-year-old.
