Ward-Prowse: We must stand up to the fight

The reigning champions visit St Mary’s this weekend with both sides looking to arrest their Premier League form, as Saints also look to gain confidence ahead of a decisive second leg against Liverpool in the EFL Cup.
The Foxes stormed to the Premier League title last season, and while Ward-Prowse respects their achievements, he says Saints have the quality to overcome them this time around.
“Obviously it was a one-off season in the Premier League last season, but teams have learnt quickly how to play against them,” Ward-Prowse said.
“We saw that earlier in the season, but it will be a different challenge.
“We know we have the quality to go out and win the game and turn around our bad form at the minute.
“We know they work hard, are physical and like to get tackles in, so we have to make sure that we stand up to the fight.
“It’s a great occasion for both teams. Hopefully we can put things right.”
Saints drew 2-2 with Leicester at home last season, as the visitors fought back from two goals down in the second half.
Ward-Prowse insists Claude Puel’s men must be looking for all three points against the Foxes this season to reach their targets for the campaign.
“It is a game we should be taking something from,” he added.
“Teams have learnt how to play against them and these are the teams we need to be beating at home if we want to fulfil our expectations of playing in Europe.
