Charlie Austin’s rumoured lover Rissy Gannon set for Love Island

Show/hide article…

She hit the headlines, after reports surfaced claiming she’d embarked on a two-month affair with Southampton footballer Charlie Austin.

And it’s since been suggested that Rissy Gannon is about to make her reality TV debut, after being lined up by ITV bosses to enter the Love Island villa.

The 22-year-old hair stylist is said to have been ‘in talks’ with the show and is ‘incredibly keen’ to be added to the cast.

Since the second series first aired last month, viewers have seen a slew of new faces join the villa.

Personal trainer Mike Thalassitis has been the latest newcomer to walk through the door and he certainly caused a stir, as the boys were left feeling threatened when a bevy of the show’s female contestants were quick to admit they fancied him.

As another re-coupling looms on the show - where one girl will be given the boot - it’s been claimed ITV are wanting to add even more contestants into the mix.

According to The Sun, Rissy could be following in Mike’s footsteps, with a source claiming to the paper: 'Casting chiefs had a meeting with Rissy and she is incredibly keen.

‘[She] thinks it would be a great experience and she made a good impression in her interview.’

However, they did add that currently ‘no final decisions have been made’ on whether the blonde beauty will appear.

Speculation she could be entering Love Island to shake things up even further come after claims of her ‘affair’ with footballer Charlie, 27, had been revealed.

A source close to Rissy had accused the sports star of pursuing her, after meeting her in a pub back in February.

Charlie’s wife, Bianca, meanwhile, appeared to confirm his wrongdoing by leaving a scathing ‘character review’ about he love rival on Facebook.

A friend of Rissy’s had told The Sun of the duo’s affair and that the Southampton F.C player had claimed he was planning on leaving his wife for her.

They detailed how he had been persistent in pursuing Rissy - despite her being reluctant to give in to his advances at first - even buying himself a different phone so he could secretly contact her and arranging for her to visit him in Southampton.

The source explained how Bianca, 26, had then contacted Rissy and quizzed her on her involvement with Charlie, after being tipped off by somebody that had seen the duo together on a night out.

Rissy had chosen not to respond to Bianca, prompting Charlie’s spouse to leave a scathing review on her love rival’s business page on Facebook.

It read: 'Rissy is the sort of person who sleeps with husbands who have wives and kids.

'Rissy is the sort of person who passes sexual diseases.

‘She is the sort of person who drives miles across the country for an easy lay behind wives’ backs when their husbands are away for the night.’

Bianca then claimed Rissy had ‘no personal character’ and gave her a rating of ‘five stars’ for being a ‘dirty s**g’.

Claims of the athlete’s affair come after Bianca had cryptically hinted at her husband’s wrongdoing on Twitter.

At the beginning of June, she had enjoyed a trip to Barbados with Charlie and their two children, but raised eyebrows after accusing her husband of ‘cheating’ on their journey back to the UK.

Bianca had tweeted: ‘When your [sic] sat about to go on a 10 hour flight with you husband and you find out hes been cheating… @chazaustin10 you p_*_*".’

However, the brunette later deleted the message from her page, and instead claimed Charlie had simply embarked on foul play in a game of Monopoly, after former Chelsea striker Leon Knight asked if her claims were true.

She seemed to jest in her response and replied: ‘Pre boarding lounge monopoly blown out of proportion.’

Bianca further fuelled rumours of friction between the pair by changing her photo on the app from one of her and Charlie, to one with a glamorous female pal, and sharing an image of her children, but not her husband, captioned: ‘My World’.

In the days that followed, The Sun reported that she and Charlie had un-followed each other on Twitter - but just 24 hours after their confusing social media encounter, it seems the couple are now re-following one another again.

The pair married at Highclere House, otherwise known as Downton Abbey, back in 2015 - two years after the birth of their daughter, Avabella.

They also share seven-month-old son Hunter and have been together for nine years.

While they were overseas, Bianca had gushed about the ‘amazing’ holiday she’d had with her beau and their brood.

Sharing a sweet snap of the four together, she tweeted: ‘Home time… Barbados you were amazing… we will be back.’

Saints aim to hijack Liverpool deal for Turkish starlet

Show/hide article…

Southampton want to take young Turkish winger Emre Mor on loan from Borussia Dortmund.

The 19-year-old has asked to go out next season in a bid for more game time and the Bundesliga outfit have given him the all-clear to do so.

The Saints and Real Sociedad have expressed an interest but no final decision has been taken on his whereabouts for the new campaign.

Liverpool were linked to the Dortmund starlet and with tensions high between the clubs, a battle for the former Nordsjælland could further intensify the relationship.

The Reds angered Saints with their approach for Virgil van Dijk, with their pursuit being dropped after a ‘tapping up’ row erupted.

Mor played just 12 times in the Bundesliga last term, scoring once and assisting three more times.

McMenemy: Should Saints consider a British manager now?

Show/hide article…

IN THE middle of this week the League Managers Association put out their annual figures and it was interesting to see that last season seven managers in the Premier League lost their jobs.

They obviously weren’t aware of what was happening at St Mary’s because if they would have held on a day that figure would have gone up to eight with the departure of Mr Puel.

Before we talk about that situation, other figures given out were that nearly half the 92 clubs changed manager last season, which was apparently lower than the year before when the figure was well in the 50s.

Garry Monk, one of our ex-players, who I rate highly, has recently been appointed at Middlesbrough while the club he left, Leeds United, have had six managers in about three years.

Of course, getting back to Saints, the new appointment, whoever he may be, will be our fourth manager since Nigel Adkins left in 2013.

Not all of course were sacked, but sadly for Mr Puel he was and as we mentioned the board had to balance on the one hand what looked good from a distance – eighth and a trip to Wembley – against the general feeling of the people who pay their money who were not happy. They went with the public demand.

Unlike the old days of course, losing your job, particularly from the top flight, will not be as financially hard as it used to be with the large salaries. With two years left on his contract I am sure Mr Puel may be unhappy but his bank manager will surely cheer him up.

Talking of managers in general, I was interested to see that Claudio Ranieri was appointed to a job in France. It means the existing rule of age limit of 65 has been broken.

There is no point in Harry Redknapp or Arsene Wenger hoping to go back at their age.

Personally I think age shouldn’t come into it. In fact the older people are they usually have more experience and can handle situations in a better way, which has been evident when clubs shouting ‘help’ at the end of the season brought in people like Harry Redknapp, Sam Allardyce and Neil Warnock. Age didn’t matter there and they all pulled off what was needed.

I suppose now there will be the guessing game as to who will be our next boss.

I learnt with the players I had not to get involved with bookmakers and betting but as ever a list of names is already out.

I don’t suppose I’m on it, but apparently Matt Le Tissier is 33-1, which I believe means he has little chance, but I would think anyway he will be happier on the TV panel each week telling managers where they go wrong rather than having 30,000 supporters telling him where he’s gone wrong!

The old argument will crop up as to whether we continue to have a foreign gentleman as opposed to a British choice.

Without knowing anything at all about what’s happening at the club, I bet if young Eddie Howe up the road intimated he would move everyone would be together in welcoming him.

The same in my mind would apply to Sean Dyche or Chris Hughton.

They are British managers who have done wonders without the sort of financial support others have had.

It could well be a famous foreign name, such as Frank De Boer who I remember not too fondly as being part of the Dutch national team who knocked us out of the World Cup when I was with England.

On the other hand it may be someone like Mr Puel, who, with due respect, not many of us had heard of before.

I suppose it is exciting times while the players meanwhile are away sunning themselves.

It will certainly give them something to talk about when they get back for pre-season training.

I certainly didn’t until it was announced we had won, so well done and full marks.

There was a thank you to managers who had allowed players to go to the tournament whilst league games were still being played, but the truth is not many of them would have been in the first team anyway.

When I look back to the 1993 under-21 team I took to the Toulon Tournament and won, names spring to mind such as McManaman, Jamie Redknapp, Darren Anderton, Lee Sharpe, Alan Shearer, Rod Wallace, Andy Cole, David James, Jason Dodd and more.

They certainly were in their club’s first teams and many went on to play for the national team.

Unfortunately with the way the game is now the under-20 lads can bask in a week or two of glory, but it could well be when their clubs get them together again in July they will back in the reserve team, such is the way the game has gone.

Southampton wrong to sack Claude Puel - McMenemy

Show/hide article…

Well I don’t think he did a bad job. I don’t know the politics of it. They never scored goals, they didn’t win games at the end of the year.

They should have won the League Cup - if they had would they have sacked him?

It wasn’t his fault Charlie Austin was injured for most of the season.

Why sack someone if you’ve got no-one better? Personally I think they were wrong to sack him.

At Wembley we were very unlucky.

On the other hand, if you’ve been at the games, the football has not been attractive and not enough goals so the season ended on a disappointment for the supporters.

They didn’t like the way their team played, there were too many changes for me - I read in the paper 250 changes over the season.

In the FA Cup against a weakened Arsenal we lost 5-0 at home.

On the last day the majority (of supporters) left and the ones that stayed didn’t applaud when the manager came out.

Let him learn, give him an opportunity to get it right.
