Saints star caught speeding before being handed driving ban

SAINTS star Dusan Tadic has been fined for speeding, two months after another court appearance in which he was banned from driving.
The midfielder, 29, was disqualified for six months and fined more than £600 in November for failing to tell police the name of a driver of his Porsche who was alleged to been involved in an incident.
At that time an allegation of speeding was withdrawn by the Crown Prosecution Service when the case was heard at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court.
But the speeding case was reopened and returned to the same court where Tadic, of Ocean Way, Southampton, pleaded guilty.
Magistrates fined him £660 and ordered he pay a victim surcharge £66 and £85 costs.
The court heard that he was caught doing 35mph in a 30-zone in St Mary’s Place/Kingsway in April 17 last year.
It is the same speed camera that has caught his team-mate Sofiane Boufal and Eastleigh manager Andy Hessenthaler.
It was unclear why the speeding allegation was not proceeded with in November only to be reopened this month.
Tadic has more than 40 caps for the Serbian national team, having made his international debut in 2008 as a 19-year-old.
He joined Saints in 2014 from Dutch club FC Twente, for an undisclosed sum, thought to be more than £10 million.
Record signing Sofiane Boufal, 23, was fined more than £800 for an offence committed in Southampton city centre just before last Christmas.
The 23-year-old midfielder, was driving his Range Rover at 36mph in a 30mph zone when he was clocked by a fixed speed camera on December 18 on the A33 St Mary’s Place/Kingsway, near Hoglands Park, when he exceeded the speed limit.
Just last week it was reported that Hessenthaler was banned and fined £740 after being caught four times on the same speed camera.
He was the first player signed by Ronald Koeman and made his debut during the side’s first game of the 2014-15 Premier League season.
He was on the pitch for 74 minutes before being substituted for Shane Long, who was also making his first appearance for the club.
His profile on Saints’s website says: “Tadic was a breath of fresh air on arrival in the Premier League. His second season with the club was even better, as he picked up 13 assists in all competitions as Saints finished sixth in the League.
“A fine campaign was rewarded with a new four-year contract ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

Mauricio Pellegrino insists his Southampton squad are ready to roll up their sleeves and fight their way clear of relegation.
An alarming run of nine matches without a win has seen Saints tumble to 17th, outside the drop zone on goal difference alone.
But Pellegrino also knows just a couple of wins - starting at Watford on Saturday - will leave them in a far healthier position.
“Are the players aware? Yes for sure, everybody knows and everybody is conscious now that we are in a difficult situation,” said the Saints boss.
“But in one week with two games everything can change.
“In the Premier League last season from eighth to 17th the gap was six points. Now between 17th and number 10 it is more or less the same.
“Maybe in two or three weeks’ time we can talk about other feelings.
“Obviously we are conscious of this situation but I have got a good feeling because I have got good players.
“My players are conscious we are in a position we have to change, on and off the pitch.”
Saints could find themselves in the bottom three for the first time this season if Watford repeat their victory at St Mary’s in September.
But Pellegrino saw signs of recovery when his side beat Championship Fulham 1-0 in the FA Cup last weekend to recapture that winning feeling.
“I have a good feeling that we are working really well,” he added.
“We are better prepared than before and we want to move one step forward from Fulham and it’s a nice opportunity for us.
“The bottom three? It’s important to try to get a good result away, and after that think about the performance and what we have to do on the pitch.
“That for me is the most important now.”
Pellegrino could welcome back fit-again defenders Wesley Hoedt, Cedric Soares and Jeremy Pied at Vicarage Road.
