A gala dinner to remember Saints boss Alan Ball will be held at St Mary’s later this year.
The event - on Friday, November 17 - is one of four such dinners being held to mark the 10th anniversary of the England World Cup legend’s death.
Money raised from the dinner will be donated to The Boys of ‘66 and their families - including the Ball family - and a donation will be made to the Countess Mountbatten Hospice.
The Ball family have been overwhelmed by the people that have so far confirmed their support including Saints legends Lawrie McMenemy and Matt Le Tissier plus other footballing stars such as James Beattie, Sir Geoff Hurst, Harry Redknapp, Andy Gray, Peter Reid, Norman Hunter, Peter Crouch and Duncan Ferguson, James Beattie.
Tables of ten for the St Mary’s dinner are £950 (inc VAT) while sponsorship packages at £3,500 (exc VAT) are available.
They will include the best tables, a VIP drinks reception, plus an advert in the programme that will be given to guests at each of the dinners and sold to thousands at a benefit match at Everton’s Goodison Park on Saturday, October 7.
Ball first signed for Saints in December 1976, and in his first full season at The Dell helped the club return to the top flight of English football.
He left at the end of the 1979/80 season, but returned a year later to spend two more seasons in the Saints midfield.
Ball returned to The Dell again in January 1994 as manager, following the sacking of Ian Branfoot.
He guided Saints to 10th in the 1994/95 Premier League season before quitting to take over at Manchester City.
He passed away in April 2007 after suffering a heart attack at his Warsash home. He was 61.
