I’ve only seen Alpha Papa the once. Wasn’t bothered about seeing it in the cinema, and you’re right, it’s a long way from the best the character has been.
Bear and I are both huge fans of the radio show, which most would consider a high point. The first season of I’m Alan Partridge was excellent too.
TV version of KMKY was very good, better than most stuff on TV at the time, but not as funny as the radio show. I can think of at least three guests from the radio immediately that’ll always be classics. Lord Morgan of Glossop, Simon Fisher and Conrad Knight, for starters. Pretty much that entire run is fantastic though.
Never heard the radio shows, I’ll have to check them out
