The wicket did get slower through the day, that is a fact not even an opinion.
On that track Gupthill could have as Archer is prone to being not particularly accurate early, if ball is coming onto bat (Sri Lanka, Pakistan) then is was a distinct possibility albeit an opinion and an incorrect one now but it had value.
We have on two occasions when the wickets and opposition (possibly 3) put us under pressure in thi competition folded. When the wickets are fast and we bat first we play much much better.
We’ve been called that for 4 years.
No could have known how quickly the wicket would deteriorate and the two random run outs of their only 2 World class players.
I hope I have answered this to pleasing.
In short great performance but nothing changes until we play on a slow wicket chasing and then we’ll know were we are.
Trevor Bayliss has just been on the wireless and he seems to agree concerning confidence and the Sri Lanka game, Roy has been key, James Vince (I believe I have said) is nowhere near the required standard.
I think you misunderstand, those 2 games we’ve just played were great but they still don’t answer the questions of pressure chasing and playing on a slowing wicket.
After all the worries, today’s is only the second dead game, and the first was still pretty entertaining.
Nothing against the Windies, but I’d love to see Afghanistan go home with a win. They’ve always been worth watching and have run a couple of teams close. It would do their future confidence a lot of good.
Dawlat Zadran to Gayle, OUT , got him! Gayle has lost patience and his wicket in the process. Looked to back away to open up the off-side and swing big, but Dawlat saw him do that and fired this wider. Gayle looked to reach out to carve it away but ends up nicking it behind. Surely the last time we’ve seen Gayle at the 50-over World Cup.
