Thanks for the clarification, Ohio. I find both it and the thread interesting, but probably not in the way that you’d hope. For example, I am not sitting here masturbating over the few images of females that have managed to penetrate Goatboy’s awesome wall of pictures.
The whole thread is built on perception and social conditioning, and is implicitly tied to the eternally ephemeral concept of youth. First, in order to have some kind of notion of what qualifies as quirky, you’d need some kind of baseline beautiful to compare it against. That’s kinda where it all falls down for me. The clash of beauty being in the eye of the beholder, versus being collectively informed who is fit or not. There are tons of celebs out there feted as being attractive that just don’t do it for me, even though the tabloids will tell you that Kim Kardashian is hot shit and Kanye is lucky to have her (possibly).
I suppose the other thing that informs my views on the matter is simply a matter of age and situation. I’m forty now, and while it may be inadvisable to admit as such on a public forum, I’m a hell of a lot less driven by my loins than I used to be. (The old joke: Why do men think with their dicks? They don’t have enough blood to service their brains and their hard-ons at the same time). The sort of people that are going to be in my life will be around because they’re amusing and intelligent, not because they are eye candy.
I love Lily, I really do!
I prefer the Goatboy approach to this…
I think there should be a rule for people discussing the attractiveness, or lack of, of other people, that means they have to post their own photo at the same time.

Why stop there? Why not, anyone who posts an opinion on football has to post proof of their coaching badges? People calling people dumb, post exam results and school reports? Comment on Birmingham spunk… you get the idea.
I just think it’s useful context. I can get a reasonable sense of someone’s expertise about football (and whether or not I’m going to take their opinion seriously or not) through the way they write and the content of their message. That’s harder judgement to make whether the subject matter is about looks.
