It all went down hill after Colin Ingleby-Mackenzie retired! And leaving Northlands Rd. Spent a few hours there watching Barry Richards and Gordon Greenidge putting top class bowling attacks to the sword. Richards was simply magnificent, a true batting genius on his day. I saw him get 100 before lunch there, and another one at Bournemouth. Breathtaking entertainment. His biography, āSundial In The Shadeā is a good read for cricket tragics, highly recommended.

Actually, while you might have a point about SFC being underachievers, Hampshireās record is pretty good - 14 trophies - 8th out of 18 counties. For one-days (including T20) only Lancs & Warks have won more than us
Of course only 2 of those 14 are championships.We really should have won one with Malcolm Marshall and when Warne was captain
