In my childhood I did not use machines to play Monopoly, Ludo and Coppitt

More likely playing jacks and rolling a hoop with a stick…

What, it’s a modern ZX Spectrum. They were spectacularly bad.

Well, for the first four generations of computer and console hardware then.

In my childhood, I got a computer at the age of nine and fucked off Ludo, Monopoly and Buckaroo.

I’m glad of the decision. Oddly enough, you get a lot more real bank out of a C16 than you do with endless games of Monopoly

Sunday school on Sunday afternoon?

I wouldn’t waste a Sunday morning indoors (and I hated Airfix) as the groundsmen at Swaythling Athletic, Wellington and BTC weren’t working, so there was proper goals to play in.

Later in life, Sunday was Tyro League matches.

And in that reply you have proved what a complete computer illiterate 'tard you really are…

Quiet, Colour-Clash,

Love, a C64 owner. The war goes on!

Bob, Bob,Bob, Bob…

Absolutely. I pay people minimum wage to do computer things so I don’t have to - and they’re grateful for the job, believe me.

Look at it like a modern version of LITSL and the serfs working on his Estate.

I can imagine the scenes.

Mr. Cobham. Sorry that the systems our down. One of the computer mice got chased by a computer cat. Both ran into our spreadsheets and databases.

That’s fine. Carry on.

Absolutely correct- Mind that you did miss l the harrumph at the end :joy:

Dunno if we have any hoarders of old tech here, but if people are bored and want to revitalise a few old consoles, here are some ways.

  • Wii
With a USB card, you can install an exploit on your Wii which will allow you to run games off a USB drive. Free, if you have a USB card and an internet connection.

  • PS2

Buy a FreeMcBoot card from Amazon. It will allow you to boot games from USB, but PS2s are ancient and they only have USB 1.0, so it’s dog slow. Your best option depends on your model.

You can use burned discs on either, but if you want to save yourself the hassle of that you have options depending on PS2 type.

You can just bung a hard drive in a fat PS2 (anything up to 2TB) and play it.

I’ve got a Slim PS2. I’ve plugged a network cable into the back of it and can load games over a wired network connection from a share on my PC.

  • Nintendo DS

Amazingly, Amazon are flogging 482-in-one carts for this bad boy. These carts are basically SD Card flash chips with an SD chip pre-installed.

I have a draw of old electronic crap

There are enough phones in there that I could start a run on gold if I stripped them down

Walkmans, discmans early iPods, Sony ereaders (before kindle was a gleam in bezos’ eye) three different kindles

Our nephews and nieces find it fascinating

Same here.

Have phones that have photos I’d like to get printed m but can’t get them to charge up to move them. Anyone got any ideas?

What sort of power connector do they have, USB or otherwise?

USB hadn’t been invented then

You used to be able to by multi adapter packs which would charge any phone - try eBay

If they’re Sony Ericsson I have an old Sony Ericsson smart phone with non-USB charger and a charger that works

I’ve all the old chargers but the phones just don’t seems to charge. Get new batteries?
