Back to the proper task
Wow what a day, went to watch AFC Totton get battered 6-1 by Farnborough, then to pub to watch Saints really put a shift in against a squad that totally dwarfs ours in terms of player value and wages and skill and everything else, and at half time I was elated that we were toe to toe matching them and looking every part their equal, then a beauty of a goal from Azaz sends me jumping round the pub like a maniac with everyone else and Iâm starting to believe, and 8 minutes later itâs back down to Earth, unlikely to even go to extra time, but what an effort, what a difference to the team that went down from the Prem with barely a whimper 12 months ago, what a day to be a Saints supporter to hold your head up high and be proud of the boys despite a (cruelly undeserved) loss.
All thatâs left to say is good luck for Tuesday Ipswich, youâll fucking need it muthalickas ![]()
We got a lot closer to beating them than I thought we would. Glad it didnât go to extratime, we needed to keep something in the tank for Ipswich.
For future reference (playoff final?) I took the train to Wembley Stadium from Gerrards Cross. Good big car park and 4 trains an hour. Great for getting there - sh#t for getting back as the Wembley Stadium station platform is pretty small and vast numbers of people were queuing to get a train. Solution - went for a curry at a great little Goan Cafe on Harrow Road about 400m from the station. Very decent meal and dead cheap.
I saw the first half and was impressed missed the second half then saw we had scored approx when Bobby did 50 years ago and that was it back to reality.
Caspar Jander was absolutely immense yesterday.
