Nothing can match this. Not just beating an India team who are almost unbeatable at home, but doing so with one spinner on one leg, one spinner who won’t be first choice at his county next season, another who is not old enough to qualify for the national minimum wage and one more who wasn’t even allowed into the country.

England made a reasonable start but it’s starting to go downhill. Rehan played a few shots then missed a straight one from Patel and was plumb LBW. Pope played himself in then went to cut Ashwin and Rohit took a very good slip catch. Root came in and from the off played as if it was a T 20 instead of a Test Match with the best part of 2 days left, eventually the inevitable happened when he charged Ashwin, had a cross batted swish and skied the ball for an easy catch by Patel. Stupid, stupid stupid. Crawley still there playing sensibly on 61.
Oh dear, Crawley gone LBW to Kuldeep for 73 just before lunch. Given not out by Erasmus, who doesn’t get many wrong, but India reviewed. Live, it looked like the ball was missing leg stump but it pitched in line and was hitting. Shit, Crawley was playing well too.
