Do the FA have a case to answer over Eniola Aluko's claims?

Hmm, read the article, they say the “safeguarding” and the “bullying and racism” issues are seperate and being dealt with as such…

How long can Greg last?

His reply to an email from the PFA, listing why they considered the first investigation a cover up.

'I’ ve no idea why you are sending me this. Perhaps you could enlighten me? ’

Reading the article is a good reminder of how appallingly him and Glenn have acted. Not just once or twice, but every time.

Just read that this evening. Truly appalling, though sadly not particularly shocking. Blows Clarke’s public statements completely out of the water,

A clear out at the FA has been long overdue. Maybe this will finally prompt one. Whenever I think of the FA it puts me in mind of the cast of W1A.

So the FA have been forced to apologise.

But Sampson is officially not a racist. Despite making racist remarks.

I wonder how a Barrister is qualified to make that qualification about the state of his inmost soul?

By their works shall ye know them, etc.

Shades of grey/gray I think @dinger

Katharine Newton ruled that the comments, made to Eni Aluko and Drew Spence, were “ill-judged attempts at humour” adding she did not believe that Sampson was racist.

She also found that Aluko had not been subjected to a “course of bullying”.

There’s this too

Aluko has just told DCMS hearing that England women’s goalkeeping coach Lee Kendall used to speak to her in a fake Caribbean accent

Actually I’m just reading a transcript of what Aluko is saying at the DCMS and it sounds like the FA are in big trouble.

And then she says this

“I don’t think he meant it maliciously … he (Kendall) might have not been aware how annoying it got.” She adds it was “very ignorant.”

So what is the difference between what Sampson did and Kendall talking to her in a fake Caribbean accent??

I’m with the Clarke bro. Pisses me off when people email me 60 page documents without having curtesy to tell me what the fkn thing is about. I can’t be reading every dumb document I get cc’d in on. Don’t they know how busy & important I am? I’d have told them to get fkd as well.

6 pages, not 60 and it layed out what it was about quite clearly.

Given his job and the allegations he already knew about, it doesn’t seem wise for the chairman of the fa to ignore the PFA.

Ouseley said it was “disgraceful” that Clarke’s response to a six-page letter from the Professional Footballers’ Association setting out a series of allegations about two senior FA employees, as well as informing him of new complaints about Sampson and another member of staff from the England Women’s set-up, came in the form of a 14-word email.

There is an issue of governance that Clarke referred to in his questioning, that he said precluded him from getting involved. He said he had to maintain the independence of the board during the investigation - something the PFA were undermine with the actions.

his 14 word response was a polite way of saying “Fuck off”

Now whether that is fair comment, I don’t know. I don’t know enough about public body corporate governance to say one way or another.

So working that through, it would run something like this.

“I have heard your serious allegations. Fuck off”

I’m sure there’s a lot of that going on in corporations, but none of them would admit such indifference publicly, and all of them would be subject to further scrutiny if there was serious evidence they’d done that.

Who appointed Ashworth and Brace to conduct the review(sham)? Was it the man that said “let the grown-ups in the organisation deal with it”.

Ashworth(leading the sham) and Brace were directly mentioned as part of the complaint from the PFA, so finding out that this was also buried doesn’t look good at all.

it emerged over the weekend that he was criticised in an independent inquiry, conducted by the barrister Newton, after nominating himself as a witness, apparently to speak on Sampson’s behalf, in the review he was overseeing.

Ashworth told Newton he did not see it as a conflict of interest. Yet the barrister disagreed and the FA, already accused of one whitewash, might have to explain why this part of her findings was not included in the edited section the organisation later released.

“An investigator should not also be inputting evidence into the same investigation and I would advise avoiding this situation arising in any future case,” Newton wrote.

The FA are a fucking disgrace. They will never learn from their mistakes and do not even realise what they are saying and doing are wrong. They need a complete overhaul. Embarrassing in 2017!

That’s all.

Oh let’s forget all the fluff around this is going to be my new saying! Tosser.

Hmm, shades of grey. I dunno about that. Seems to me that it absolutely falls to Newton to make a judgement on whether Sampson did a racist thing. The qualification that she “doesn’t believe he is racist” seems to a) fall outside her remit (that’s not what is on trial here) and b) draw a false delineation between racist action and racist attitude that reduces his comments to a harmless misjudgement or an accident.

A racist comment is an expression of a held prejudice that the commenter thinks society is going to back them up on holding, or that they aren’t afraid of the consequences of expressing. If you say the racist thing and think it’s OK to say the racist thing, you are, at least to that extent, a racist person.

I am not sure about that Dinger. I think you can make a comment that is racist in content but not be an actual racist. People write inappropriate things on here all the time under the banter mantle and I am sure most of them arent racists, homophobic, misogynists etc. Things are said after a few drinks in the pub all the time which wouldnt go down to well if said loudly on the 7:30 train to work. For me a racist is someone who holds certain beliefs, not someone who makes some poorly judged jokes in an totally inappropriate situation. That twat James Cordon was been vilfied for his attempts at humour whilst trying to poke fun at Weinstein. I doubt that he is a Weinstein supporter and woman molestor. I think he just badly judged the situation and his material. If Sampson was a racist there would be a lot more out there than a couple of post-adolesent attempts at banter.

I’m with you sog. This Sampson bro sounds like a cunt, but I like to be more careful before branding someone an actual Racist. It’s about the worst thing you can put on someone, after pedo I suppose, and worse in the respect that it don’t need to be proven. He’s gonna have Racist tattoo on his forehead for rest of his life, like he’s fkn Klan or something. I find it quite Sad.

Where does everyone stand on blacking or browning up?

Ch4 getting some stick for browning up some white people so they can live like a Muslim for a week

I used to live with a girl whose dad was one of the main singers with the Black and White Minstrels. When the show lost its tv slot he used to tour with another singer and still black up. Eventually he had to stop and just used to sing the songs, but was bitter until the end as he claimed it wasn’t racist or meant to be offensive. I am sure he and they meant well (the show gave Lenny Henry his first break in showbiz) but it is how these things are perceived that matter.

Shut up you black queer bitch :lou_eyes_to_sky:
