Puts me in mind of my earliest memories of ciggie cards…here’s one for the kids…Turf Cigarettes. The cards were printed on the back of the packets.
Only just caught this obituary. Saw The Albertos a couple of times at Soton Uni. Once very drunk after drinking all day at WBA and back in the 76 FA Cup 5th rd. What a great band.
This is close to home.
I worked with Kate at the DP World Championships for 10 years. She was a treasure, feisty, professional, droll, kept everything ticking along in the media centre. She loved all sport, even bumped into her at an Eng Pakistan Test Match in Abu Dhabi.
She was one of those who helped nudge people to get me in to the Ryder Cup in 2014, told me to get my ass back to the centre one year so Luke Donald could pour me a glass of Moet.
What a great girl, and what a shock to be gone so soon.
It sounds like she was universally loved…no age at all…FUCK CANCER.

I missed this the great classical guitarist Julian Bream passed away on Friday 14th August. One of the great disappointments in my life is showing no natural aptitude for playing a musical instrument…believe me, I’ve tried most of them.
Back in the late '60s I had Julian Bream’s double album “The Art of Spanish Guitar” just the most beautiful exposition of the art. He was a treat to watch…if he was on telly I never missed the program, let’s hope the BBC will be trawling their archives.

I read an interview in which she claimed it was deliberate weight loss in order to “look sexy”.
So I’d say LITSL was correct in his diagnosis. That’s a typical refrain from anorexics, they look in the mirror and think they look great, and they’d look even better if they just lost a few more pounds.

It certainly looks like it. Looking at those pictures reminds me of the tragic demise of Karen Carpenter, she looked just like that at the end.

You have to wonder what clicks in their minds to blind them to what they’re doing to themselves. It’s quite incredible, they really believe what they’re saying and thinking.
These aren’t that recent, they’ve been floating around clickbait links for almost a year now. I always get these or the one telling me about the guy who found a mine on his property and was arrested the next day.
