⚰ Death

Breaking news about Gene Hackman.

He’s turned up his feet in Poughkeepsie.

Sounds even sadder than that.
Breaking is that they may have been gone almost 2 weeks
Very sad not reposting the fail story

I’ve been off the radar for five days, on an Island in Thailand with very dodgy,(ie non -existent) internet, and missed this very sad news. I loved the New York Dolls, sadly never saw them live but I was lucky enough to catch a set from David Johansen and his band at CBGBs in the East Village in 1979. He was very good, a really charismatic frontman. He brought the house down. RIP.

I wasn’t a particular fan of theirs, but I did see them at Talking Heads. Can’t even remember exactly how long ago, but it must have been a decade or more because I remember agreeing with my nephew about the feeble offerings of beer in the venue.:smile:

Talking Heads in Portswood Road, or off The Polygon?

Portswood Road.

They moved from there late 2015.

By coincidence, a photo I took at the gig popped up in my Google photos app a couple of weeks ago. I’ll try and dig it out and see when it was.

Gutted. What a character and what a guy.

No more grills.

Damn fine grills they were too.

Much better cooking chicken breast than the big cooker

World heavyweight champion, 81 career fights including one of the greatest bouts of all time against Ali, 75 wins, 68 by a knockout, and all anyone mentions these days is his fucking grilling machine. :worried::joy::joy::joy:

but they were knockout grills.
