Crystal Palace Away Build up and Match Thread

Oh well. At least it’s a short trip home for me.

I hate how entirely predictable this result has been. Embarrassing and frustrating stuff.

Amazing how much we make scoring a goal look like just the hardest thing in the world

Cunting cunt flaps. On the plus side, at least I couldn’t get tickets.

You mentioned the cheap manager thing twice in that post. Now you must promise to never mention it again.

It’s my fault BTW, I took Benteke out of my Premier Fantasy Football team for today.

You sure you don’t live somewhere in the Alps Bazza?

And yet we’re in the Semi-Finals of the League Cup after having beaten Arsenal 2-0 at their place. And we’ve got a chance of getting into the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Methinks it’s not all as bad as you make it out to be!

Well that wasn’t very good at all.

And, sorry, it was a mistake to respond to Bazza, I won’t do it again!!

Some work to do in January by all accounts. Only Austin is a natural goalscorer in this side. Not helped by Redmond and Long being rash in front of goal.

I note Palace did a lot of work on set pieces before this game…which makes me wonder when we last scored from a corner or free kick? We scored a shit load of headers last year but I believe just the one so far this year and that was Austin against Everton and to be fair that doesn’t fucking count!

We should have been through the knockout by now but pickig a team for the following premiership game obviously hasn’t work out has it? Arsenal was agreat game but that was Arsenal being shit as we were good, they were awful. We’ve been awful in the League, if we don’t go through on Thursday what will you be saying?

On the plus side I have a day off tomorrow so I can get fucking shit faced tonight.

The curry goat at one of the Jamaican takeaways in Thornton Heath is very nice.

When you need some luck down the bottom, a mad bobble goes a long way.

Write another away game off, keep getting results at home, win and progress in Europe and get to the league cup final. I will be happy with mid table.

Fighting on all fronts is going to have an impact mentally and physically. Mixing up starting line ups and some of the squad travelling, others at home, all disrupts the flow.

But as I have said we are fighting on all fronts!

FA Cup draw added into the mix this weekend.

I didnt see that coming :lou_facepalm_2:

Back from the game.

Sadly, there’s very little to really discuss there.

We had a pretty good grasp of the match, particularly as the away team, until Forster’s howler. Perhaps it was part of the natural shock from such a horrendous error which caused everyone to simultaneously switch off for the corner 3 minutes later, but after conceding two horrifically bad goals in quick succession its hardly high-level sports psychology to see the home team breathe a collective sigh of relief whilst the away team thinks ‘ah fuck it, just not our day’.

From then on we actually managed to win the midfield relatively well and create a decent bit of pressure, but we’re not great goalscorers at the best of times and against a home team happy to sit back and defend a two-goal lead our lack of creativity was very pertinent indeed.

I am a little worried about people’s reaction to Boufal. Was hearing a fair few murmurings of discontent thrown his way during and after the game which I really do find baffling. The guy was taking on and beating players and probably did as best as he could have done given that he had no-one to one-two it off and Palace were able to comfortably double-team him every time as he was our only real outlet. Even with all that, he still managed to make a decent nuisance of himself and if you were to single out a bad player from that match, Boufal would be nowhere near the top of my list.

Austin doesn’t just need to be fed chances, he needs them spoon-fed to him while he sits in a high-chair. Today he was just utterly owned by Tomkins and Dann. God knows why we figured that our best method of attack against a back four of Ward, Dann, Tomkins and Delaney (so four centre-backs basically) was to get the ball wide and hang it up in the air and God knows why Long didn’t start - shit a finisher though he is.

Oh well.

Draw a line under this, forget about it and on to the next one. Nothing constructive you can really take from that.
