Cheap hotel or B&B in central Southampton?

I’ve been greatly touched by the rallying around and support offered by the Sotonians in my hour of need. Let me exploit that help a little more and once I’ve received some answers, I can touch you back.

Anyone know Cotswold Road? It’s in between Pennine Rd and Cumbrian way, north of millbrook Flyover.

How far is that from the city centre?

OOOO, don’t go there! Scary!

Please be serious. I’m beginning to lose the will to live looking at places to stay.

Neither Ted Bundy nor Jeffrey Dahmer would know Cotswold Road.

Just saying…

For a budget bet you could stay in one of the guest houses on The Polygon. However, having lived on that road, I would treat it as a last resort.

Doubt any of those places would be bothered about drunken antics mind you, and it is an ideal location if you want to be near to town.

Having re-read the opening post I’d actually double back and say this is your best option.

What I would say is this: do not go for Polygon Guest House. That was the one I lived directly next to and there was constant trouble. The ones down the park end of The Polygon always looked a bit better. Best reviewed ones on Trip Advisor are Linden Guest House and Claremont Guest House.

Alternatively there’s loads on Landguard Road, which is virtually in Shirley so a little further out.

Thanks ant, although I’ve already tried those places and they’re all booked up. At least, that’s what they’re telling me.

i am now waiting on a friend of mine to get in touch to say if he is happy using aribnb and a lady who seems willing to share her house with three drunken men to reply to an email I have sent her. I felt it only fair to check with her that she understood that the cleaning fee of £7 for the room would be woefully insufficient given the amount of piss, shit and sick that will cover the walls and carpet. She hasn’t replied yet.

thanks again all.

What about the pub on the corner of where the Dell used to be? That had rooms that were cheap I seem to remember.

Bletch, regarding your kind invite for me to stay at yours … unfortunately, something’s come up. :slight_frown:

Not surprised that people have tried to help, but am worried that Goatboy has yet to offer his gaff: what you have planned is a standard night at Goat HQ. Can only assume he is triple booked.

I’ve always been a bit suspicious of Goatboy. Personally I wouldn’t risk it.

I believe there could be a badge involved for anyone who accepts an invitation to the Goatshed…food for thought. :lou_smiley:

I would be more than happy to help. If you can ok it with Mrs Goat.

Wise words. I wouldn’t trust me either.

Yeah, I’m sure Mrs Goat would really appreciate a random braless female her husband has met on the internet, asking if she’d mind letting her stay the night…

having found every guesthouse fully booked and just a few hotel rooms left at too high a price, you will all be pleased to know that I have booked a room in a polish ladies house. Three of us staying in one room for a combined fee of £63. God knows what it will be like or what her family are going to make of three drunken men turning up after the football and pub crawl.

Prices for B & Bs. Some might even feed you:

Soton b and bs. They still exist.

Can you walk? A fair way (it’s Millbrook, innit?).

Gotta be at least 3 miles. No idea specifically as I don’t live near there no more.

Stayed there once. Was ok for what I think the likely clientelle are likely to be like but was a bit pricey (didn’t get breakfast either but the staff were ok).

When she told you that, do you think she was talking in code?
