:brexit: Brexit - The Ramifications

Assuming that our EU contribution is in GBP, our 350m a week before the 23rd June is now costing us somewhere in the region of 390m, which means more money saved for the NHS. Hurrah!

Bob Carolgees once told a mate of mine to Fuck Off, but that was in Blackpool and my mate wasn’t a Londoner.

Doesn’t count then. My inebriated mate grabbed Nicholas Parsons gonads at a Freshers Ball in Bristol. He probably lives in London but then again so does my mate, so the ā€œfuck you Londonā€ thing was probably a bit sefl defeating.

No he put mispelt wig in the original workings and Bearsy was watching so he deleted immediately…

Desperation? hardly, not the same thing as opinion Barry. you need to consider you words much better. Actually we are also not yet out. no one has yet evoked the clause… and true democracy and intelligent discussion is open to ALL possibilities and change of minds… afterall its not just the misinformation that is the issue, but the fall out from the decision. Grown ups would be happy to look at this again in teh light of the shifts in circumstances… that is afterall what we do in GEs… The only reasosn why the Brexiteers are so fucking worriedby this and shouting ā€˜it would be the end of democracy’ (no honestly it really would not) is that because of what we know now the result would likey be quite different… but its done and you can be as pleased as the dog with two dicks as you like - I am sure you are very happy that your hero Farage has achieved his life’s ambition ( you were always so in love with UKIP) - shame they are a bunch of xenophobic cunts, but best not draw any conclusions hey?

If by some miracle all ends well, I will be happy to withdraw my criticism and concerns (but even that does not justify folks voting without a fucking clue, or because they are fucking xenophibic loons) - but flip side is that I will also be more than happy to blame brexit voters for the shit storm continuing.

A small point, but if you really want to be taken seriously by anyone, I suggest you try not to use ā€˜my little children’ - it really just makes you look as foolish the results of your voting practices.

Barry is your father and must be obeyed.

It’ll be best of 3, then 5, then 7…

If nothing else, this shit is going to make the next pre-match beer thing fucking interesting. Time to open the book on the number of arrests for public disorder offences? :lou_is_a_flirt:

My last point is going to be a controvercial one. And I am only bringing this up as earlier in this debate, I was accused of somehow ā€˜not learning from history’ the besmirch being that if we left the EU unhindered to get on with its current desires, it would be this big autocratic and unelected body dictating our lives form afar - the insinuation was that this would be similar to the vision of the chief cunts of all time, Nazis, removing elections and taking control.

To me this was a somewhat hysterical and OTT perspective - but my initial response was more measured citing that my reading of such German/Swiss classic as Biedermann und die Brandstifter by Max Frisch which warns of standing by and ignoring the rise of such political shit storms in allogorical form. (read it, its a fun play)… so I am well aware of such lessons.

But I could have played the same game, so here goes at the risk of the Wrath of Kahn…

NO ONE has said that ALL those voting leave are racist or xenophobic or too stupid to know what they were voting for. All I and others have said is that were a number who were exactly that - and in my humble opinion, enough to provide the difference. Lets be clear on that.

BUT, and we come to the controvercial bit, having German relatives, I can say this, that many of the older generation that were around at that time were 'Not facists, did not hate Jews, but initially voted for HItler because of all the good he could do for Germany… But many also knew he had a darker more sinister side - yet were still prepared to vote that way because of 'good he would do for Germany, employment, economics, fucking autobahns… whatever. Extreme OTT for sure, but then I did not bring it up… but my point is, if you chose to vote in a particular way you have to take responsibilty for all the baggage and shit that comes with it - you can’t sit in some ivory tower and say you are only repsonsible for the principled stance and all the other shit that happens is a simply not your doing. You want the power of democracy? Then take the responsibility for the implications of your vote - All of it

If Remain had won (the first test in the series of five, or however many it takes), and our link to the EU somehow collapsed our economy, I would be openly admitting that I (and every leading economist) got it wrong.

Sometimes you just have to hold your hand up and say, I didn’t realise the impact of the vote, I didn’t think it would get this bad.

But let’s not kid ourselves that the current problems are just about uncertainty, this is markets and companies warming up for the big crash, when we actually leave and they have to make proper cuts.

If you’ve been enjoying austerity, you are in for a treat!

Yep, exactly that. Makes me happy to have a Canadian passport, that’s for sure.

With a recession being likely confined to the UK during post brexit ā€œadjustmentā€ it may well lead to a brain drain of talent, exacerbating the problem.

I’m not going to blame pap until we’ve actually completed a brexit and I’ve seen what it’s like. That is the fair and moderate position + all you cunts need to settle down.

Does this also stretch to elections, as I’ve been pretty sure your tune has been different for those that voted Tory at the last election…

Check this thread. I have already admitted that I was wrong to do that, that it doesn’t win any hearts and minds and that such an approach is counter-productive.

I can change. I can change.

(I know I’ve been a dirty little bastard)

I do worry about you. I mean how do you cross those busy roads safely with those huge blinkers on?

Yes, we have to accept it, but there is no way I’m going to be happy about it. I’m going to moan and whine and complain and point out the lies and contradictions continuously. It is my democratic right to do so. We’ve had decades of people like Barry and Farage and so on moaning continuously about being part of the EU. Now it’s the turn of me and people like me to moan.

A huge number of the leave voters were sold a lie. When they see the results of their decision they’ll probably be even more jaded about the political process than they were before. I feel like we’re going to sink into a malaise that will last for years and years. People will lose their jobs, our incomes will reduce, investments will be made elsewhere, we’ll become peripheral, isolated and maginalised.

Welcome to UKIP-land.

Hate to break it to you bros, but Canada ain’t got EU membership either, so they’re every bit as irredeemably fucked as us :lou_sad:
