No, because as I said before, it was a de facto Hard Brexit.
Centrist Labour are the core of the pro Eu ticket, left and right of that are the Brexit Labour people,.centrist Labour code for class traitor Blair should go and support the equally traitorous SDP LA or whatever theyâre called nowadays, give us back the real party, the Skinners, the Benns, the Corbyns etc etc
I suspect most of the Remain voters to be democracy sympathisers first and Remain sympathisers second.
Itâs only the fucking babies and businessmen still screaming that distort that essential truth.
Your last paragraph would lose Labour a lot of votes(mine included), as youâve just advocated business as usual and i would never vote for that.
A western led global capitalist society is the cause of all the problems in the world. Why would anyone vote for that.
I know youâll say thatâs the reality, but thatâs surely why people voted as they did, because they are sick of living someone elseâs reality.
I really donât want to be taken out by this bunch of self serving cunts, but telling people that they have no choice, will only entrench their determination to effect change whatever the cost.
Offer them nothing and they will return the favour.
5 Million floating voters will sway any election, feed them disenfranchisement, alienation and lost hope they sure as shit are going to vote for a populist extremist and if their legitimate vote was fudged and taken away from them can you blame them?
I couldnâtâŚ
The only thing this collection of people would have in common is they have been cheated and they will do everything they can to either stop it or bring down Labour, they would bring down Labour and it would create a vacuum and huge divide between the North and South of the Country.
For Kiers self interest and vanity he would kill the party, kill any hope of being elected and alienate many true long standing Labour people, still bollocks he can always go back to talking shite in a courtroom and bollocks to democracy.
Is this the essential truth that you voted forâŚ
âŚwithout concern, descent or critique?
Youâre in the wrong party anyway, you bleed liberal and have Nick of your wall and Vince in your hallway.
Ignore? Says the man, in his responseđ
Keep fantasising about the 70âs and let the rest of us know when youâve discovered how to travel back in time, because thatâs the only way weâll ever relive that.
Iâm not in a party.
You are a right wing tory though, Mr CofE, private school, middle class aspirations, hate foreigners and back western murder and destruction for profit.
Youâre as right wing blue as they come.
Didnât you say yesterday that Corbyn should go?
Never voted tory and neither would I.
CofE? Not religious
Private school? NoâŚ
Middle class aspirations? Probably am middle class by default but I am certainly working class in mind, body and soul.
Hate foreigners? Not at all, what a ridiculous thing to say.
Back Western murder? No I have never wanted us anywhere near religious zealot hotspots, we can evacuate all the gays, democracy and freedom of speech, secularists and the vulnerable to open and more honest places and help the backward places stay backward.
You keep supporting Putin and Assad though, theyâre a tad right wing you know?
Youâre not very good at this are you?
You go to church. Are you a fraud?
You said you wanted your kid to go private.
You have mentioned your middle class aspirations before.
You have a massive problem with foreigners if they are in anyway different to you(as shown on multiple threads).
You back western governments arming fascists in the Ukraine. Do you denounce western interference in Nicaragua, Venezuela, Ukraine and Romania, not forgetting all the others?
Religious zealots. US?
Show anywhere that i have supported them? Although they are the democratically elected leaders of their countries, you believe we should denounce and help overthrow them(must be a religious thing).
Youâre not very good at this, unless you make it up, are you?
Where do you stand on Israel stealing anothers land and indiscriminately murdering women and children, whilst keeping a whole population in an open prison?
Where is your anger for the treatment of the Palestinians, or donât they count because they are Muslim and you, like isreal, see them as sub-human?
Youâre as right wing as they come.
Nope. That is government policy, and not policy I would particularly endorse.
I will have the option as a voter to agitate for change and have a meaningful vote at the ballot box to overturn it.
Unlike say, control of the food supply, which Iâve never had a say over, indirect or otherwise.
My children are christened, I am a hypocrite as I am not religious.
I said I wouldnât send my kids to a terrible school and if pushed and we could afford it we send them private or anywhere bar that school.
I havenât, donât lie.
No I donât, Iâd have huge issues with my own blood family and my neices as well, I donât.
I didnât back any Government, not Kiev, London, Moscow or anywhere else, donât lie or make it up, Iâm against illegal invasion.
Could be the US, all people who dislike gays and hide behind culture or religion are backward.
Israel are a disgrace of a nation and fascist, that doesnât mean the other side isnât fascist by default of worshipping and accepting racist doctrine.
Your biased and one eyed, Iâm not.
Iâm biased, but youâre the one that takes the government propaganda machine as fact and refuses to read anything that goes against that.
You wonât acknowledge that we(the west) bring infinitely more death and destruction in any single year, under the the lie of democracy, than all your boggy men could ever do.
Ignore this one as well, wouldnât want to upset the story thatâs been drummed into you.
Tell me your view on child labour laws in Bolivia and how that compares to the western capitist world you promote so ardently?
Western media had a lot to say about it, under the guise of democracy, so iâm sure youâve been fed an opinion.
Welcome back Barry. Going to Liverpool/Saints on the 22nd?
My point was more of an observation really⌠that given we seem to be a âmore conservativeâ country, Labour may lose some core voters, but gain others (admittedly many that would not be welcome by the staunch ideologists)
I do believe there IS scope for something different within the grim realism of global capitalism⌠and it starts with de-politicising social care, education, health, infrastructure etc so that there can be adult discussion on best approaches and long term investment⌠not always derailed as these items become the political balls with the games played by the braying twats in Westminster. The solution imho is not being a slave to âestablishedâ / historical political doctrine as all we see with that of political infighting as party extremes try to wrench power and take a path away then back to old values and ideology⌠Values and ideology mostly founded on excellent intentions, but in different times.
Great article. This should be of particular interest to anyone that feels Labour going Remain in a hypothetical general election would be a good idea.
Ukipâs collapse has deprived the populist right of an electoral vehicle. And in the last local council elections, where Ukip was wiped out, between a third and a half of its votes went to Labour. For many Leave voters that referendum was always about kicking the establishment. Now they are being won to Corbynâs Labour Party as an effective way to do that - so long as it continues to say that it respects the Leave vote. Even Nigel Farage admitted this:
What so many didnât understand was those supporters Ukip picked up last time round and building up to it came from Labour backgrounds. They wanted Brexit but they also wanted change. They also wanted an anti-establishment voice and Mrs Mayâs âstrong and stableâ actually repelled quite a few of them.
But if Labour weakens or abandons that position it will strand Leave voters with the only the right to represent them. That would be the dream scenario for everyone from Donald Trump to Boris Johnson to Tommy Robinson. Suddenly a hugely angry and disappointed, mostly working class, audience would be available to them. That could lift the far right into a different league.
Stern. Is he full of shit?
The bit at the beginning, 5-7%, for 15 years, (scary bit)annually.
