Got to say that after winning God’s lottery by being born an Engerlander I also lucked out by having an Irish grandparent.
Have just come back from hols after using my newly minted Official Plastic Paddy Oirish passport and had frictionless travel through 4 EU countries and back to the UK who has the common travel area with Eire. Same for Eldest C_S. Happy days.
Youngest C_S has travelled a lot in the EU this year so is all registered So entering Berlin was a breeze
Mrs C_S hadn’t travelled in the EU since last year so had to register on arrival.
Got though passport control in record time and then had to wait for Mrs C_S (and a plane load of Brits) to get processed over a few beers.
Oh, how 3/4 of the travelling party laughed 
Should be easier next year, but fuck you Brexit.

I cannot use a Polish e-gate BUT I an use an EU Passport desk and skip the queues.
However, here in Krakow - heading to UK that would mean elbows and excuse mes’ at rush hour.
Going to France each way I didn’t need to enter any ID info and on way out at boarding showed my UK Passport, coming home showed my Polish ID
No eyelid was batted
Kids went to France via Le Shuttle nooked an open ticket and lounge access in UK - took them 1 minute to check the Dog’s passport - no other delay
Going home? they don’t care they have day
But Krakow IS one of the worst EU airports for delays - simply too small too few passport desks, they do their best they have enough staff but at 7am 6 xx 737 flights of 160+ Wizzz A321 -thousand people through 10 desks and 3 years to build more space
EU will kill it
