i like how you claim stats prove you right (without highlighting which ones, other than goals) then go quiet sharpish on that when stats prove you wrong.
A fine suggestion, but I’m a fan of retaining the original spirit of the work. I have made a minor amendment to reflect that it is you saying this.
Seems most people are prepared to make allowances, although I did float your suggestion to a couple of real lifers today and they agreed with you. However, I don’t agree. Yet.
In the pre-match press conference for Manchester United, Koeman spoke specifically of the inherent inconsistencies in younger players. He was talking about Martial, and unfortunately, he happened to be wrong too 
Martial is the most expensive teenager to grace the game. Ward Prowse is a kid we’ve developed through the ranks. My personal opinion is that he has done very well, but has visibly frustrated on occasions. He’s going to get a better footballing brain with experience, and is already playing in the Premier League, a tremendous achievement for any player, never mind one so young.
Absent such progress, you’re right, but that’s a hypothetical that goes against the available evidence. The national U21 side have handed him the captaincy, surely indicative of confidence in his leadership and/or footballing intelligence, and perhaps foreshadowing for him pulling on the band for Saints first team.
And you know what, I wouldn’t begrudge him it if he earns it. I’ve no idea what his long-term plans are, but it’d be a brilliant footballing story if he became the next lifelong Saint. Pompey fans would of course, get to claim that we needed one of them for a lifetime to get by. We’d get to retort by saying “yeah? well he didn’t want to play for your shit, did he?”

I think there’s a lot to be said for him being U21 captain. He’s evidently a bright lad who conducts himself like a professional.
I’d much rather have a young player like JWP than Jack ‘passed out on the pavement’ Grealish - whose stats show him not to be a better player than Prowse. Let’s also not forget that he’s an under 21, writing him off and giving him grief is really pathetic from our fans, particularly fans who not too long ago were watching such midfield delights as Paul Wotton, Lloyd James and Romain Gasmi.
The amended title leads me to the idea that we could have a separate subforum for Barry’s thought-bubbles - with threads full of puzzlement and impeccably well mannered attempts to decode what he actually means. It would be like doing the Times crossword each day - or something.

I thinks it is quite safe to assume the thoughts of the posters with the title of the thread, regardless of the amendment.
As much as Barry aspires to be a wind up on here, I think we all just find him a bit too endearing to be annoyed.
