Are we becoming more xenophobic since Brexit?

Why? He is no different from the others spreading their bile - its the twats who believe that shite that I have an issue with… and those that seem nonplussed about it because these twats enabled the vcitory they desired at whatever cost…

Apart from the world spanning, multi-format, fabulously wealthy and disproportionately influential media conglomerate, of course.

A rather naive catch all dont you thingk when not qualified with a rational?

‘People fear change’ by itself is rightly something you can criticise

‘People fear change when that change is a lurch to the right and appears to provide a platform for xenophobic rise’, is a more rational repsonse

Simple example of how contect makes such a difference - you pof all people Pap shoudl understand that and avoid the traps of such cliches…

To be fair I’m not sure she’d even understand this sentence. She thinks pickle with cheese is wild and dangerous.

Or voting to remain because “I don’t like change” as somene told me recently.

People fear change. One of the first things they teach you in A Level politics is that if a voter is doing alright under the present government personally, he or she will probably vote for them.

We’ve had far more virulent and much better funded attempts by the far right to get into this country. If Hitler was unable to promote fascism in this country through proxies like Moseley back when it was a tolerated ideology, what chance do you give the pitiful bands of skinheads, turning up in mobs of twenty, getting knocked back by counter-demonstrators in their hundreds or thousands?

Im not try to differentiate between the various degrees of stupidity of the electorate. However stupid some one is they still get one vote. One xenophobe is cancelled out by one frustrated holidaymaker.

True CB, but if we are being silly - to take it to its logical conclusion, had Remain won, I would not be fearful about having a load of numpties who were now happy they could continue holidaying in Spain, as I am about a load of numpties who believe the xenophobic shit spouted by Murdoch /Farage etc and now beleive they have a new mandate to continue spouting their hate…

You are right the principle is the same, but the moral consquences oceans apart… and its why I struggle when folks only follow principles without compromise for moral consequence.

Yep - still quite angry Bearsy with this whole Brexit malarky - because the result was skewed by ignorance (not all brexit voters are dumb I know this, and not all voted brext because they were xenophobes … I know this to… but enough were and did to make the difference ihmo) so I cant understand why anyone is not angry… given how such a huge decion was in effect left to the the sun readers to swing it - when on the dayof the referendum the sun does a 6 page editorial old news of problems in Calais… that is not democracy.

Yes I am angry Bearsey.

Yes I question those who make statements about benefits to themselves without explaining how - or see it as a’gamble’ without assessing the consequences, or dismissing them as a byproduct of their decsion so not their repsonsibilty

Yes I am angry.

Because, this was not something we can chnage our minds on if it does not work out. Beacause its seems to have given the extremists on the right a louder voice and more courage to spout their shit as if they believe they now have a mandate to do so

And I am fucked off with being told I must accept democracy… This is the biggest load of shit, because the principles of democracy dont hold true in this case, because if it does ont work out, I cant vote for the alternative in future… so yeah,I am angry and have no problem in sharing how angry I am.

PS. This has nothing to do with personal circumstances by the way, my pension was fucked long before Brexit, and I live in Scotland so my house might be fucking huge but is worth fuck all…I did go to Tuscany for a holiday one so that must mean I am a big fuck off rich snivelling laywer…

Man up you big fat whopper.

LOLs - you plum. You need to brush up on your wit before you come and try and fuck with me boy.

Okay, question for all you Sotoniers…

Does England (first) and the UK (second) actually need to become xenophobic? Personally I find xenophobia objectionable, however, does a nation state need to adopt this as a modus operandi to ensure its continued existence and prosperity.

Needless to say we are heading down a somewhat fascist path here since those who did not want or wish to ‘contribute’ to the nations ‘prosperity’ would find themselves outside the ‘system’ (out-laws). And in the brave new world no one would have an excuse for not working for the benefit of the state (blimey sounds like 1984 at the minimum, or Stalinism at its worst).

Your opinions please…

Do we discard the ‘accepting, mutli-cultural’ UK (god forbid imho) and go for right wing tendencies or what?

…answers on a SAE to…

Multicultural is another word for tolerance but not acceptance, parallel lives of fear of not commenting of abhorent customs and cultures as it could upset someone, that in itself is distasteful. Multiculturalism is a word for failure and extreme political correctness at the expense of decency and law.

That leads to the question of what is culture and who defines it.
