Soriano is the mushroom place.
Ribero for pork cheek, but they had a decent selection.
Taberno de Baco: interesting - mussels, leeks and very good croquettes
Torrecilla - we had duck and chicken, both freshly cooked.
Tastavin is highly recommended fur seafood but was closed.

They nearly all open 12 or 1 until 4, then evening from 8.

Exception was Taberna del Tio Blas which stays open all day. Not as good as the others but still fine and huge selection and very busy during the siesta time.

Prices are incredibly reasonable - €2 to €6 for a pintxo on average, up to €12 for raciones - larger portions. Glass of wine €2- €3. Avoid trendy bars charging far more.

I’m sure there are plenty more good ones, but we liked these. And, obviously, follow the locals.

Who had today in the heart attack sweepstake?

Sticky Toffee Pudding

I am bankrupt. £75 for a pub lunch, but was I guess a suitable wake for my Sister.

Our meal for two tonight with a soft drink, good bottle of Ribero and digestif, and enough in the doggy-bag for lunch tomorrow cost €51. £43.

Lamb Rump with Lyonaisse Potatoes Green Beans a Garlic Butter
Sticky Toffee Pud 3 pints of Ale

It was tbh expensive i would never go somewhere that price level. But was delicious

At least a third of that is the ale

On the way home. We’ve had great experiences and lovely meals, but strange to say the best meal of the trip was on Brittany Ferries tonight.

Huge hors d’oeuvre buffet, Miorrocan lamb and a cheeseboard. And wine. Of course.

For two, after Club Voyage discount,€35.

Home safe.
We had paid for aisle seats C & D and were at the back of the plane. Row in front of Mrs P_F stayed empty after thry shut the doors.
So she got a window I had an aisle nobody inbetween & we actually had a comfortable flight

Is the bird’s husband still there? :confounded::grin:

Home safely too. Thoroughly enjoyable trip but back to earth with a vengeance. Roof repair that should have been done hasn’t been done letting in a lot of rain FFS. And the wind has brought down slates which landed on and broke guttering. FFS².

And the oven fan has failed. I’m sure there’s more.:rage::frowning:

Brexit.

Of course. Don’t get me started.

One source said it was “a bit of mess”, with EU leaders trying to work out how to proceed without “losing face”.

Just returned from The Netherlands visiting family-in-law in Den Haag and Breda. Both really nice places to visit. Loads of good cafes, bars and restaurants with no agressive edge at all. Really easy to get around by bus/tram/train.
