I can empathize with you on that one CB, I had a dose of the wild shites at the weekend. Itâs something I rarely get, I seem to have a strong constitution, I often eat street food here in Thailand with no problems. But I copped for a dose of it at the weekend, woke up on Sunday morning with my stomach performing somersaults, a mad dash and managed to make it to the bathroom where the world fell out of my bottom and I I darenât leave the vicinity of the bathroom all day. The last time this happened was several years ago when I was in Cambodia, on the day I was leaving which made for a white knuckle flight back to Bangkok. I canât be doing with Imodium, it binds me up and I would sooner put up with the wildies than that. I always get anti-bacterial tablets from the pharmacy, two a day for a three day course. They work a treat and things are back to normal after the second day. I sometimes use them if I have a mild persistent diarrhea and they always work a treat. I havenât been able to face a beer since Saturday, I will probably chance it again tomorrow. I fly back to the UK in a week and I donât need a repeat performance before then.

It is a wonderful journey but FFS not the slow train!
The train in the picture is one of our local Malopolska Trains the fast trains often have old style compartments and are not as comy
I have come to the conclusion that Americans cannot cook
Assuming they manage to cook the food properly (they canât) they then smother it in butter / cream and if that is not enough to make you feel bilious, they add honey.
So as you push your half finished plate away you realise that taxes and tips will mean the cost of that mediocrity is $50+ per course
We really take for granted the British food scene, an average pub chef is far better than a lot of âhigh endâ offerings over here

Have a good time Goatboy, be prepared for some extreme heat. I arrived back on Wednesday after my three months and temperatures were really starting to rise in the week before I left. The Thai met office are predicting record temperatures for Thailand of 45 degrees, maybe a few degrees more. Chiang Mai of course wonât reach anything like that but the middle of Thailand would best be avoided. Even the Thais were moaning about the heat.
Sounds perfect for pool time, cocktails and nana naps. Heathrow card machines down so free drinksđ
