A word seldom used but managed to get past the censors in the US - 2:44 in

In the cinema all the Dads shot drink down their noses or choked on their popcorn at that line. I’d imagine most americans didn’t pick it up at all.

the word ‘Joey’ used to convey someone was a bit thick or ‘special’ usually combined with a tongue behind bottom lip and an ‘unnnnnn’ sound.

That was an epic back fire by the beeb. Show a piece to raise awareness of mental issues with a young audience and create a country wide piss take in the playground. Not what the producers had in mind, I wager.

I rarely hear anyone one use the word Pillock anymore.

I used to call most idiots that crossed my path “cock ends”, but for some inexplicable reason have stopped doing so. I might resurrect it.

This reminds me a a chat I had with an elderly relative when I tried to explain that _cripple_ is not a good word to use for someone with a disability - _‘but they are crippled’_ they explained innocently…

Ouch.

No , as said above Blue Peter followed a chap with spastic paraparesis called Joey Deacon. He could barely be understood but someone managed to over hear him and could understand him and acted as his translator. It was a heartwarming story and he wrote a book.

However to the playgrounds of Britain came a new way to insult people Joey, Spastic etc. obviously awful in retrospect, but in terms of phrases that denote an era its got to be up there as the source was so obvious
