Yes, you see that kind of argument is why we have them in the first place. Clever buggers. But useless. Especially utilitarians - what’s the point of an entire philosphical system based on the question: what’s the point? The history of socks on the other hand tells us useful things like the history of Britain. It’s noteworthy, for example, that the Roman invaders didn’t wear them with their sandals. ---

Knowing full well that this thread likely started off as a catalyst for a laundry list of complaints about arguably pointless things, I’d like to change tack a little. Everything can be deemed pointless if you’re not arsed about it. e.g. Personal betterment. What’s the point? Even if you manage to improve, you’ll die. Even if you manage to pass that knowledge on, well, look at the dinosaurs. Not many of them rocking around with PhDs, or even CSEs. So widening that question to the big one. Is there a point to all of this? A reason for existence? Some unseen purpose in say, having us exist, versus not having us all exist. Or is it just all meaningless fucking entropy? ---

Better but a bit angry now rather than depressing. What about those covers that people put on toilet rolls? I don’t even know if that’s a real thing, I think I may have seen it on telly, but at least its light. What about those plastic plug things you get to put in empty plug sockets. What are they all about!!! ---
