šŸŽµ What are you listening to etc

… and one of my favourite songwriters and best songs IMHO. Saw him do this live at the Town and Country club back in 1990 or so… anazing

I’ve never really listened to Rush but I do have plenty of ā€œuncoolā€ guilty pleasures myself from way back when. I spent far too much time reading Lord of the Rings and JP Donleavy books with huge headphones clamped to my head listening to Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Yes, King Crimson and Gabriel era Genesis. I’ll put some of this stuff on at home occassionally to be greeted with WTF is that? from Mrs SOG.

Listened to the whole album, Painted Shut, on my flight home t’other day. Really enjoyed it.

Also been listening to SOAK, Sufjan Stevens & Explosions in the Sky quite a bit recently. Atmospheric.

So, I’ve listened to that Hop Along album at least 5 times since the above post. How many is too many times to listen to an album in a day?

Think a new obsession may be coming on.

This song was released this week 40 years ago…a track on the album ā€œThe Hissing of Summer Lawnsā€ā€¦an artist who made everything possible for women songwriters…without compromising…

Top tune there, Goatboy. And, unless I’m much mistaken, that’s the great Manley Augustus Buchanan, aka Big Youth, driving the car in the opening scene. Fab.

Loved this album…and still do. Great guitar sound on this…

EDIT: Didn’t spot the date on the original FB post.

Still a storming performance though.

Bit of a nostalgia fest this morning…some wah-wah on a Steely Dan track took me here. A must hear for guitar players…1970…Peter Green just jamming with a rhythmn section and sounding like he was going to play forever. Wah-wah heaven…
